11  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Soda Can Flower!!! on: April 17, 2009 05:57:12 PM
i hope this is in the right place... this was a christmas present that my bf and i made his sister, well sort of christmas, since she got it 5 months late. haha. but the important thing is that she likes it! Smiley

we made the whole thing out of soda cans we saved, washed and cut up. we covered a piece of wood with the inside facing out, that we scored lines into. and then shaped the flower Smiley theres a dragonfly on it too, that sort of hovers, but i think it might be hard to tell on the pictures.

Love to hear your comments!

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pea Coat Fix-up :) (5 pics) on: July 24, 2008 11:53:34 AM
sorry if this is in the wrong place.... but somehow i managed to tear the lining of my third coat now. something about the coat rubbing between me and my backpack maybe... not really sure. no one else i've talked to has this problem. however, i couldn't bear to throw them out so i bought from matching-ish fleece fabric (that i hope wont tear compared to the silky fabric that wears away) and sewed it in over the lining. now my coat is really warm (a good thing, cause i'm always cold) and its a lot heavier. I also did the sleeves to make them nice and warm as well Tongue oh! and it only cost $4!!!! to save a $100+ coat! now i'm off to fix the other two Smiley

and some before pics...

13  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Indian Style Wedding Album (Very Image Heavy- 9 pics) on: July 24, 2008 11:33:53 AM
when my parents were married in India, they didn't have a proper photographer. all of their wedding photos are about 3 by 5 inches, so horrible quality and they dont have a wedding album. I thought it would be a nice anniversary gift to make them a scrapbook, but it ended up being a bit late. oops  Embarrassed anyway, I took the pics, scanned them, and photoshopped the best ones and put them together in this scrapbook. i tried my hardest to stick to the traditional colors and such. and my parents loved it Smiley

14  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Easy Jewelry Hanger :) on: July 24, 2008 10:55:47 AM
Not sure when it happened, but I acquired a lot of earrings and necklaces in the past couple years and needed a jewelry hanger. I didn't have a piece of wood or dowel or anything (and couldn't wait once the idea struck  Wink), but I did have a paint stirrer from the hardware store, so thats the top. I painted and decorated it and glued a ribbon and a piece of plastic mesh to it Smiley and its prefect for what i needed and pretty too Smiley

15  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My paper bead necklace (4 pics) on: July 09, 2008 12:38:25 PM
I used to make paper bead back in grade school! I was inspired to make them again after seeing miss van's post. I was going for a bracelet that was made of smaller beads that miss van's but somehow it morphed into this long necklace. I used triangles instead of rectngles to make the beads tapered and used clear nail polish as my varnish. And I used these glass beads meant to look like silver beads as the separators. Also, I used magazine pages that looked like newspaper to get the awesome newspaper look of miss van's. I had some problems with smudging and the white of the newspaper looked very grey, so the magazine paper worked much better. Hope you enjoy! thanks miss van for the inspiration!
16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Floppy Disk Pen Holder! on: June 24, 2008 11:43:56 AM
so for my boyfriend's birthday I decided to make him some good things to organize his desk Smiley he's a computer geek so I thought this floppy disk pen holder would be perfect. And after seeing it, my mom and best friend also put in their orders for one, not to mention I think I want one for myself!

The base is just made out of cardboard, I made it a little lower than the top of the floppies. and there's a divider on the inside so the pens can be sorted a bit if he wants.

then, i painted it black with acrylic paint and varnished it to make it shiny (comptuter/metallic like) and also to protect it a bit. Then i glued the floppies to the four sides. two of them are label side out and the other two round shiny thing out.... i covered the label side with photos of us, printed on regular paper, but then covered in packing tape before I cut it out.

Hope you enjoy! Thanks for looking Smiley

17  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / College Sewing Kit *Img heavy* on: June 12, 2008 08:16:30 AM
I made this sewing kit a couple years ago for college. i started with the plain box and decorated it with wallpaper. you can see where its been cut and layered. and then i put clear packing tape all over it to protect it Smiley then for the inside, i build the little tray with built in pin cushions. and then i made a little needle holder to go with it with just a piece a cardboard and some of that magnetic tape. hope you enjoy Smiley
