Taking some inspiration from the various jewelry people have made from caffeine and chocolate molecules and this post: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=161423.msg1629892#msg1629892, I decided to make these earrings for my mom's "lab week." She works in a lab in a hospital and every year they have lab week to honor the work they do. And, they have daily raffles with stuff brought in by the people in the lab. Anyone can bring in whatever they want. I wanted to make something for her to take that would be science-y.  

They are all one piece of wire, weaving in and out of beads.



pictures are with and without flash. i couldn't decide which picture looked better. oh and i also had to put in a short explanation in case people were like what is this!??! or mom said they might think its a funky snowflake

also i had to add a caveat that its just slightly fragile, hahaha. i dont think the wire can take a lot of bending and twisting, but otherwise its pretty sturdy

I desparately needed to figure out how to put my purses so they wouldn't take up so much room. I couldn't get my door opened all the way!! So I came up with this holder that is a long strip of heavy canvas, with velcro strips. I can hang 8 purses on it! and they lay flat!!

I think I need another one for my totebags now. hmm... but two sewing projects in 2 weeks is exhausting! haha i'm done with the sewing machine for awhile :-P

This is my second attempt at making a skirt, but my first finished product!  It came out a little wonky but i'm pretty happy with it overall. Its made out of 5 "J" shaped pieces. I got the idea from a skirt that I own, but that one had all different sized "J" pieces and I didn't want to make it too complicated, or take that one apart to see exactly. Let me know what you think! And if you have any tips to make the next attempt better, let me know please! I am just starting to sew!

I finally have somewhere I can store and see my paints! I used two old drawers from a kitchen remodel. I took off the drawer fronts and then anchored them together. i got my dad to cut out four pieces of wood to use as shelves which are just nailed in. Then i just painted the whole thing white and now I can see my paint! It holds bottles 4 deep perfectly

i made these for a friend of my mom's who is getting married. She loves entertaining so I hope she can use these!



a box she can keep them in. its just a store jewelry box with a piece of wallpaper on the top and a piece of white felt on bottom inside.

I made this for my bf's birthday and just got around to posting it. I wanted it to have some sort of practical use as well so I made the body a box. Its all made out of cardboard and various recycled things found around the house. Let me know what you think!

making wire and bead earrings is ADDICTING!!!

i only have a few options for wire and beads right now, so they are all the same colors, but so summer-y

i needed a quick graduation present for my cousin so I whipped a penholder with his school's mascot. i covered a cardboard tube with wallpaper and traced and cut out the dragon from wallpaper. and i covered the whole thing with a matte varnish so the points dont peel off. and i painted a couple pencils in the school colors, made a little magnet, and found some blue and yellow thumbtacks. he's going to drexel in the fall
