1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: I Am Without (Crafting) Focus... on: May 30, 2010 04:13:24 PM
I struggle with the same issue - from what type of crafting I want to sell (jewelry, hats, corsets, purses, armwarmers, hand-dyed yarn, alternative maternity clothes, etc) to what style (goth, punk, victorian, steampunk, mod)...

IMO, I think it really just depends on what the goal of your Etsy shop is.  Do you just want a little extra income?  Do you want it to replace a part-/full-time job?  If you're looking to replace a "regular" job income, then I do think you need to focus/specialize in one area.  I wouldn't worry so much about what is "more important" or "better" - I would just try to do what you enjoy and can see yourself doing over and over (the 'drudgery').
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: The (new) Etsy critique thread! on: May 30, 2010 12:55:49 PM
RavingRosemary - I love your descriptions!  They cleverly play off of the literary names of your products.  I think the photos are pretty, but, as has been mentioned before, use all 5 shots (I am guilty of the same thing).  You may also want to think about adding some descriptive words to your titles to help people doing a search.  Ex: The Scarlet Letter - rose, lilac, and freesia soap.  Personally, I don't care for titles like that, but I think I read somewhere that it seemed to work.

Could somebody look at my shop, please?  http://www.etsy.com/shop/moonstaradri  I am really struggling with the descriptions, especially.

Thanks!
