9  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / My Dresser Redo Makeover for $10 on: September 14, 2010 02:13:45 PM
I had a VERY heavy Dresser sitting in my hallway in the second story of my house. We inherited it from my husband's parents.  I have no idea how we got it up there because we'd tried a few times but were unable to get it down the stairs to get rid of it. I got tired of looking at it because it was so beaten up. I decided last week that if it had to be there it might as well look good.
I began painting it a very dark cranberry color and put a very light first coat on (1/4 a gallon of paint) and had planned to sand that coat lightly to put the next coat on. I began looking at it after the first coat though and decided that I actually liked it better with just the first coat which acted as a sort of stain for it. You can still see some of the woodgrain through the color.
The glass on the top was a piece we bought a million years ago from a local company to put on top of another piece of furniture. I called them the other day to see how much they would charge me to trim 6 inches off the side and to my delight they told me since I'd bought it there, they wouldn't charge me at all Smiley
The plant on the top of the dresser in the after picture was given to me by my mother because she didn't have anywhere to put it inside her house and with it getting colder it was going to die.

The dresser as I mentioned before is in my upstairs hallway so it was hard to get a great picture of it before or after. Here are the 2 best ones:

10  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Fall Craft for Kids' Party PRETTY PLEASE HELP :) on: September 13, 2010 07:33:43 PM
I was put in charge of doing a group craft for our church's Fall Party for the Kids (anywhere for 25-70 kids). The trouble is I'm drawing a blank on something cheap, cute and easy to do.
Do any of you Crafty Guys and Gals have any great ideas.
