591  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Home decor - To Go... on: April 19, 2004 07:00:01 PM
Ive turned take-out packaging "leftovers" into easy home dcor.  These projects are perhaps more satisfying than the fleeting indulgence of the food they once held.  Here are some of my post-drive-thru projects:

Chop Stick Photo and Note Holders - prepare Plaster of Paris and pour into small condiment containers, before plaster dries, insert clean, unseparated pair of chop sticks and allow to dry.  Slide photos and cards between sticks.

Left over mooshoo or a Chinese To-Go Paper Weight?   Fill a "to go" carton with Plaster of Paris and allow to dry.  Don't close the carton - condensation will form and rot the box...close the box after the plaster has cured (overnight)

Salad Bowl Stepping Stones Mold - fill plastic salad bowl containers with wet cement and allow to dry.  Pop 'em out of the mold and place in the garden.

Cup Holder Clock - simply insert clock mechanism  through the back of a 4-cup cup holder.

Pizza Box Night Stand - this project takes a little more work.  You need to purchase several materials, including a "table leg" kit (it comes with the screws, legs and docking panels - larger hardware stores carry them).  You'll also need to have a hardware store cut you a square piece of wood and glass for the inside of the table.  Place the wood into the box and screw the legs, through the bottom of the box into the wood.  Once you've attached all of the legs, slide in the glass and close it up.

592  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re:Scrabble Gamepiece Bracelets on: March 23, 2004 05:36:00 PM
AWESOME PROJECT!  I use Scrabble tiles and the gameboards to make bulletin boards.  I usually find them at thrift stores, but when I run out and need a fix I get  a complete set of tiles (without the board) from Hasbro.com.  Good luck everybody!

I loved this project when I first saw it...has anyone made a lamp using this concept?
