I decided it was about time I learnt how to knit... so... I found myself a kids pattern to make these egg cosies which I've put on some yummy cadbury's creme eggs to give to my friends for easter! I

a...uhhh.. disemboweled easter chick. niiiiice. Grin

Tutorial:

Please bear with me - I've just learnt how to knit so I might have some of the terms wrong!

I am using 4 mm needles..

ok...so....cast on 12 stitches.

I then did a row of back stitch (?) to make my edge neat.

Knit 10 rows.

Then you start the shaping:
for row number 11 stitch the first two stitches together then continue normally to the end of the row.

repeat (row 12)

then for row number 13, knit the first two stitches together, then the next two together as well.. and continue normally.

repeat (row 14).

Cast off the remaining 6 stitches.

You then need to repeat this pattern again (you are making 2 halves).

Sew the two halves together inside out. Turn the right way around.

Stick on wobbly eyes / beak (I have used paper for the beaks)....

12  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Boring gloves made a little less boring... on: March 02, 2005 03:37:39 PM

My first ever project!
I decided to make my gloves a little more interesting, since they are getting so much use in the current cold weather! I found some sequin/gem things to decorate them. I think it turned out pretty well..now I just have to do the other one!
