1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / paper bag valentine's scrap book [img heavy] on: February 06, 2006 11:40:24 AM
For Valentine's this year I'm taking my boyfriend to Paris for the weekend but I decided that giving him some tickets is sort of uninspired  Embarrassed so I decided to make a paper bag scrapbook to go with them! This is the first time I've ever made a scrapbook (!) and I was inspired by a lot of photos/layouts etc that I've seen around the Internet..The only problem I have now is trying to stop myself from adding stuff..I can't seem to leave it alone!

Now I'm going to go and hide with embarrassment at the unveiling of these photos into the public realm...

2  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Hair Extensions on: August 09, 2005 05:14:30 AM
So..I'm going for my hair extensions tomorrow.
I've already had the colour matched, a price, and have been told that it will take about 4 hours...but before I finally get the beauties in, are there any questions that I should ask? You know, just to make sure I cover my back in case it goes wrong/I hate them?

Thanks in advance!

I decided to make a trip to Kew Gardens (London) yesterday. The weather wasn't great - it had just rained when I arrived but it stayed dry for the rest of the day. Here are small versions of some photos I took. Feedback is appreciated  Grin

5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Photography effects mini-tutorial on: June 08, 2005 03:56:22 PM
I decided to make a sort of mini-tutorial as Ive had a couple of questions about how I got this sort of effect

I will demonstrate with this picky of a rubber ducky(aww) using photoshop elements (since this is the most popular version, I believe-I usually use CS)..
Once you have your picture open you select Layer > Duplicate Layer
http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/21319C1.JPG

A box will appear asking you what youd like to call this layer..I always use the one given..so just click ok

Now youll need to click on the layer tab at the top right or press F11..Select background the one with the little padlock next to it
http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/21319C3.JPG

Then press ctl and shift and U at the same time this desaturates the picture (i.e. turns it to black and white)..you wont see any changes on the screen..yet

Now go back to the layer box (or F11) and click on the background copy that you have just made.

..and heres the beauty..now you take your eraser tool and start erasing back to the black and white image, leaving the bits that you want in colour as they are..
http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/21319C4.JPG

(If you want to be really fussy you can use the magnetic lasso tool to go around the area you want to leave in colour, then right click and chose select inverse then go back to using your eraser tool, being as messy as you want because those areas you selected wont be affected. Once you are done go back to the lasso tool and click deselect..)

And you are done! Ta Da!Here's a quick peak at how this one turned out - I've done this in a rush so its not great, but you get the idea!

If anything's not clear, let me know and I'll try to explain Smiley

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / ~ Alphabet Photo Swap ~ on: June 08, 2005 01:33:49 PM
I thought I'd start this in a new thread since I think this is a fab idea (courtesy of Princess Dukki) and word needs to spread..

The idea is to send a photograph album with a photo representing each letter of the alphabet (e.g. an apple for A...but ideally something a bit more creative than that!)..for those letters that are tough to get you can either be a bit creative (as Princess Dukki suggested, a photo of your eX for 'x') or you can skip that letter and duplicate others to bring you photo total up to 26..

Let me know if any of you guys are up for it. I have my final exam tomorrow so I am almost free to organise this swap, if you guys think its a good idea!

7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Anoter photo-swap..? on: June 06, 2005 05:40:09 PM
Is anyone up for another photo swappie..?  Grin I really enjoyed the TruColors one..

Anyone have any theme ideas? / Think another photo swap is one too many? / Can't get enough (like me)?

I would maybe attempt at organising one once my term finishes (25th June) as I will have some free time to work it out!

Hello!
I bought a sewing machine a few days ago and I am addicted. I made this bag for my holidays-to carry all of my essentials to the beach and stuff. I'm really proud of it. I made it using a tote idea then added a base using the tutorial here

Here's the outisde
