That's awesome!  My JUST three year old (b-day yesterday) is so interested in my sewing but I wasn't sure if that would be ok.  I love the idea that you can give them something with straight lines to sew - maybe I'll let her make a bag.

I have noticed a buzz around the blogs that only high quality (expensive at $8-$10 a yard) is worth it in the long run.  I'm wondering if people here have an opinion about that.  If I had oodles of cash I would just go for it, heck who doesn't want a house full of Amy Butler??  But I see really cute prints at my local Joann for about half the price.  Any thoughts on the long term quality difference, or even short term!

This is so true!  As a former teacher I am a total hoarder of "interesting" recyclables.  I keep a running bag of them and then bring them to my daughter's teacher.  One of the places where I was a teacher we kept a big bunch of things parents brought in - milk cartons, tissue boxes, containers, boxes, etc.  The kids could use them however they liked - to make sculptures, robots, play in the sand/water, anything they can think of!  I love this sort of play because you have to use your imagination, problem solve, and ultimately create something from junk!
