Ergh... I know its expensif... but its the only not so bad supplier I know in Canada. I don't want to pay ridiculous duty taxes if my package get stuck at the border... why is everything so expensive in Canada... snif...

Unless someone knows an other Canadian supplier  Cheesy

Damn, that's cheap!

I get mostly everything from Canadian suppliers not to pay duty taxes and local grocery store.
I get 3 liters of pomace grade olive oil at the Arabian store for 10$....

5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Do fragrance oils soap just like the smell in the bottle? on: March 24, 2010 08:53:46 PM
Maybe your like me. I hate all fragrance out of the bottle, I just can't stand them.
I put very little in my soaps and I still smell them, while most people barely can tell.
Once they are toned down, I like them though.

I'm so paranoid when I make soap, I wear my snowboarding goggles to make SURE I don't get any soap in my eyes. Any type of eye injury is my number one fear....

I just finished a batch of simple olive oil and coconut, with malva tea.

Awesome tutorial, I will definitely try it. I'll wait until I have enough soap scraps or something, I'm planning on making a few 1kg batches within the next few days.

ETA: Most of the bad things you hear about lye are urban legends born from misunderstanding. When people talk about old fashion country soaps that "took your skin off," they were probably talking about old fashioned cleaning products that people made and called soap. My husband's grandmother's mother often made a soap-like concoction involving Comet & Borax. That WOULD take your skin off!

Well I think country folks did make soap that took they're skin off... father always talks about when he used to live in remote rural Brazil in the middle of nowhere in the 50's. I always here the story about the way people made soap using old random grease they found and lye, using no scale and just kinda mix it together. Apparently sometimes the soap was so greasy it didn't wash anything and some other times you'd loose your finger nails using it. On top of it they wouldn't wait 4 weeks to use it.... That's what my father used to think about my soap until he tried it... now he raves about it... anyways.
