If you go to Joanne's (or other craft stores too, i'm assuming), they have a section with clasps and adjusters and things like that. there's plastic ones and metal ones and all sorts. it was by the nylon webbing where i went. tabs for the ends might be there too.

anyone else having trouble with the paper sticking to large areas of toner?
i'm using nail polish remover, and i can't figure out why sometimes it won't transfer, why i have to rub so hard, and why my paper is ripping apart when i pull it away.

i think it'd be cool to have something set up like the ORG on zefrank's site. you sign up for an optional site, and there's a google map implementation that marks where each member is.

you could easily find other craftsters near you and other such things.
i realize not everyone wants to put their address out there, but it would be optional.

ohhh yes. my dad's printer uses toner. now i just need to stock up on nail polish remover.

any suggestions for the types of things to transfer onto? i gave it a try on the inside of my moleskine and it worked for the most part but the paper kinda got mushy so some of it ripped up...

i realize this is way late, seeing as v-day is long past, but i thought i'd chime in, too.

your bf sounds almost exactly like mine (hippie w/out the drugs, guitar and drums, not really the type to wear things you craft, can easily buy whatever he wants, etc), lol, so i understand.

for valentine's day, i ended up knitting him a scarf in a broken rib pattern, in an earthy-green wool-ease, and once i finished, i cut out a black felt peace sign and handsewed it on one end. he actually does seem to enjoy it and seems to wear it even when he wouldn't think he's 'supposed' to. a hat is forthcoming, when his birthday comes up, or something.

What stitch pattern did you use for the scarf?

i used a broken rib stitch - i understand.. i did a few searches for "manly stitch patterns" before i settled on this

it's k2, p2 for two rows, then p2 k2 for two rows

the threads and such that i saw mentioned moss stitch as a good manly pattern, too

maybe i suck at gift ideas, but my bf is incredibly hard to find gifts for.

soooooo... at lunch on monday i finally decided to make him a scarf for valentine's day... and after picking up the yarn after school, starting a horrible attempt at 5 and working 3 hours for 2 inches of progress, i started at 8 last night, and have knitted at any available time until about 10 tonight.

then finishing and sewing and i now present:

hooray! and i am awesome.
