For Pregnancy in a Box- To make a baby box, (those things that were traditionally the cigar boxes the father would buy and pass out, then the baby's mementos would be kept in there. Like the hospital bracelet, photos, a lock of hair from the first hair cut, a list of gifts received at the shower, etc.) buy one of the unfinished cardboard boxes from the craft store and decoupage it with cute baby things appropriate to the gender and what not. You could make or buy a baby book and/or pregnancy journal. Avoid putting in bath salts, on almost every bottle or directions I've seen they've said not to use them when pregnant. Buy/knit some comfy socks, make one of those really soft polar fleece blankets, maybe get her a candle and some nice bubble bath. If she's a first time mom get her a book like "What to expect when you're expecting" or something along those lines of what to expect- or maybe just a good novel in general if she is sick about the whole baby thing.
Always, always, always- make sure you move the needle into the correct position when changing feet on your sewing machine. I was using a zigzag stitch and put on my 1/4" foot and forgot to move the needle. Big mistake! The needle broke and a nice sharp sliver of pointy metal few at my face. I was quite lucky it only hit my cheek and bounced off. It scared the crap out of me! I'm lucky it didn't pierce my eye or something. Least to say I didn't use that foot for a couple months.
Lol the great thing is it turns out I didn't have to do a damn thing. My friends got sick of my putting it off so the bastards threw me a surprise party. It turned out great, and it was indeed eccentric. It was a costume party involving my very very gay friend to hand out lap dances in a tiny hot pink belly shirt stating "Models Wanted", we featured a music video 3 of my friends made, and acted like assholes the entire night. It was wonderful.
Lol funny story actually, my third HP book got destroyed while lending it to a neighbor. (Almost all but 30 some pages fell out in a hunk from the spine.) So I recieved a new one for my birthday, and I'm trying to think of any other creative ideas for myself now lol. If I could just get my hands on a small wooden stool or table... hm
