My best pony so far, shes made out of all fleece her mane and tale are a lil wonky cause of the stripes which i appliqued on instead of piecing together it was easier she wasn't supposed to lok this good was a trial of the pattern so i didnt pull out all the stops and wasn't careful with tracing the pattern so marker shows through some of the seams she needs a trip through the washer ut i love love love how she turned out she hasent got a cutie mark yet since laptop croaked and it took a month to get the money saved up for a new one, her eyes aren't twilight sparkle eyes they are i believe princess luna eyes ut i love the way they look makes her look more like an old style puny g1 2 or 3 type eye, so enough jabber jawing here she is sorry for the crappy pics was to windy to set up background outside and lighting inside sucks big time,
Massive bad piggy i made for my 11 year old son for christmas, he is huge over a foot tall and super squishy thanks to stuffing that wayyy to expensive , he took the whole bag!hes made of fleece and all of his details are appliqued on and sewn for good measure because instead of instead of throwing his birds at the pig its the other way around, pattern was made by me from one i found online that needed some tweaks,
Super happy with how she turned out She is made of pieces of 2 2 liter soda bottles, glued together and painted to look like an adorable penguin wearing a toboggan with a little pom pom on top, she will be part of my christmas decor this year even though she doesn't match my silver and white theme... original idea was found on pintrest
Here on the east coast its starting to get chilly finally, which means its coat season yay... well not liking typical coats i have several different capes and wraps that i have made this will be my main fall and winter go to for this year... It used to be a satin curtain , well the lining was as well as the collar and lining of the hood, the main portion of my cape is part of 4 yards of upholstery fabric i found in my fave thrift store for 4 dollars! i had to get it and new instantly it was the perfect shade of chocolate for my new winter coat , i set out to actually make a 3/4 length trench but my dis like for being trapped won over and i am much happier with my cape , though sewing with satin especially cut on the bias is a royal pain in the Arse..
I worked on it for about 10 hours straight , stopping only to smoke about every hour and a half and to feed the fam of course , so at 2 am i finally finished all but buttons.. i do have pics taken of just about every step which is a pain , so if any one wants a tutorial ill gladly ad a step by step...
close up of collar sorry satin does not photograph well
the hood being modeled by another project..
and inside of hood, its actually various shades of pink , hot pink light pink salmon ect
and an in progress shot, note the pink sharpie! i got a lil carried away not realizing it my usual washable marker! note that satin slips around no mater how many pins you use especially over such a large area, i used every pin in my pin cushion which had over 100 pins!
if any one wants a tutorial ill gladly tackle it , as well as instructions for my much simpler wrap which only involves 2 rows of stitches and very little skill...
So as a late birthday present my hubby helped me turn a upper cabinet i got up freecycle in to a sewing table for me because using a tv tray to sew on sucks.. we cut off one of the bottom ends to make it level added in a few screws to stabilize it and screwed on a recycled piece of ply wood to the top , it was a hand made pine cabinet , i wish i had before pics of it . over 3 days i added 4 coats of latex white house paint which took forever to dry in virginia humidity in july , once dry i set to work painting it , the top had an antique sewing machine in the middle where my machine sits a spool of thread unwound and strewn across the top ,buttons "sewn" on all over the top along with a shiny silver needle and scissors , it has spent thread spools for door pulls and even has buttons on the doors even has stitches all around the edges of it.. i massively love it and best of all its 8 feet long and almost 3 feet wide, sooo plenty of room , with the doors i have now got all my stuff organized , well not all of it but some lol. so heres the piece de resistance.
Top (its hard to get pics of the top when ur short)
needle and scissors
antique sewing machine
button and stitch detail on doors
the knot so the Stitches dont come out lol
button detail
and the pink spool of thread which i think looks very realistic in person
and so ya see what i used to sew on go ahead and laugh... least it was portable lol
sorry for the mass of pics i actually have more but there hiding will add full action shots when i find them c and c welcome
So after hunting for a pattern that was almost as big as my 5 year old i gave up and set to making my own , having made poppets and other types of doll not a biggie right? WRONG , this is Andy he is my prototype made from the first go with this pattern , he is 25 inches tall has boy parts, a belly button ,and even a butt crack which every one who sees him finds hilarious, i unfortunately did not get good pic of his details other than the boy parts before my cruddy camera decided to croak on me . Andy has toes and 5 fingers is anatomically correct , and best of all is made from recycled materials, his body was an old jersey bed sheet his "guts" are stuffing out of a pillow i found at a thrift store and his eyes which i could not get a good pic of are actually the wiggly black dot out of Giant wiggly eyes painted to look like real eyes complete with color striations , his hair is a piece of reclaimed fur from an old carnival toy. He unfortunately was a fail in my book his body is oddly shaped though i think its from the cruddy stuffing that was in the pillow it wasn't stuffing at all it was various types of shredded fibers. over all he turned out half way decent and sits in my sewing room as a reminder so with out further a due here he is in all his naked glory .And once again sorry for the cruddy pics
Andy
what you cant tell from this pic is that his ears actually look like ears i suck at embroidery but i added in every thing to make them look as close to real as i could to change your image viewing settings please click here
An in progress shot before all his details were added in and his wonky toes were fixed
With my new addiction i have finished my third poppet she was a birthday for a friend of my hubbys who loves loves bowling, though thats all my hubbs knew , couldn't tell me a fave color what she collected nothing and hes the godfather of her son for heavens sake! but any way lol , shes got nubby yarn hair which i love the pics dont do it justice its a pale yellow with purple blue and aqua highlights sewn in through out her wefted hair, i love love how her hair turned out, had an issue getting her legs jointed tight enough and she went to her new home like that, after cutting my hands up on dental floss trying to tighten them down repeatedly, i gave up... so with out further ranting here she is bowlerina.....
side view with her bowling ball and a pin as well, sorry for the blurriness good camera decided it didnt want to work
better detail of her pin and ball... making felt balls sucks btw... her clothes by the way are a yellow plaid circle skirt, and a punk tube top that was an Avril lavine t shirt of mine, wish i had gotten better pictures!
some what better view of her hair, note to self never take pics at night..
and bowlerina beside cammi(with her new hair) my first poppet note the size difference, i forgot i shrunk the pattern...
heres a lil bit better pic of cammi and bowlerina, relaxing on my printer...
Tada now to get my second one finished been having issues my daughter wanted a purple poppet and all i could find was a dark purple velvet and the heads wonky so trying to figure out how to make it work after 4 try's i gave up so any ideas would be great. ok enough of that thanks for looking c and c welcome...
so my 11 year old is in love with kawaii and i love love bears, so thus came along this guy hes actually pretty big about 22 inches at the longest part made if a microfiber suede thats super soft , his eyes and tear drop are made with free motion sewing they took longer than putting the whole thing together did , over ann hour sewing in circles and then filling in (ugg) but hes totally cute though i stuffed him a bit to firm hes become the vafe for pillow fights as he will knock u on ur tail feathers cause hes so hard, but he is great for propping up with...
and they eye and tear close up.. camera sucks for detail... taking pics at 1 am doesn't help much either...
After lurking on craftster for years and finally becoming a member a few months ago and seeing all the amazing poppets (i love craftewoman"s poppets) and geting the pattern from ghlie i started working on her after not having just the perfect materials for her i had to make due(I live almost an hour from my closest fabric store:( )she has regular shank buttons for her joints, her body is actually a slightly fuzzy microfiber suede that i use for making bears but it was the perfect color, she is currently sporting under clothes as my hubby and father in-law were making fun of her for being naked, and both laughed hysterically when i emerged from my sewing room with and undershirt and panties made for her ( i do have the patterns for both if any one wants then i will gladly share since i couldn't find one online , i like to cheat ! LOL ) I only spent 2 days on her well maybe a total of about 6 hours total she is all machine sewn, that was a pain my machine is retarded and has a mind of its own most days, but it cooperated for once... so with out further a due here is my first poppet (who still needs a name ) in her undies
and here she is all pretty in her pink under clothes!
close up of her undies
side view (sorry for the brightness there was no happy medium )
close up of her face, i did do a bit of sculpting to give her more of a nose and make her look like more of an elf but the camera doesnt really pick it up
**UPDATE** Here are some "action" shots of cammi with my dolphin Blue ,being 28 years old and having 3 kids i sleep with him *blushes*.....
and of course one of her and my third poppet, this is the most current as after i did the shoot with my dolphin and was in the process of making the last poppet i was given a bunch of great bumpy yarn by an angel on freecycle... and cammi finally got a good outfit pixie hemmed circle skirt and matching tube top, though that has changed now.. will update again once i get a better camera.. love the purple, blue and aqua hair which was laid in piece by piece in a specific order...
and there ya have it my first post and poppet all in one sorry for the excessive pics i was excited... c an c welcome!
i am in between sizes right now 16 is a bit tight but fits every where else and 18 is to baggy and for the life of me i cant figure out a way to make the 16s fit better in the waist i tried adding in triangle shaped pieces to the waist to not much success (it looks wonky on and gives me a muffin that i did not know i had!) and tried adding elastic to the back after cutting out a section.... any one got any ideas i know we all have these problems some ones got to have a way that works and looks decent any help would be great!
