1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jean Wallet on: October 10, 2010 06:38:10 PM
My old wallet was falling apart at the seams, so I made this wallet out of some old jeans:

The coin purse part is made from the front inside pocket of the jeans (the jeans came with the embroidery), and the front zipper.

The little fastener is made from one of the belt loops, with a new snap closure (which I need to re-sew soon)

The credit card/id holder is made from a cool shirt that was way too small for me, but I thought was maybe see through enough to work.

The sewing that I added was all by hand. It still has a few issues--like the zipper is too tight, so it's hard to close--but I like it anyway.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Duct Tape Dress Form and Reconstructed T-Shirt on: October 10, 2010 05:20:35 PM
I saw this project by blanketkitty a while back, and made my own:

Instead of using a shirt, I used newspaper. Though I like the effect, I don't recommend this, especially if you don't have help. It was so hard covering all the right places, and I ended up using three and a half rolls of tape. It was made entirely out of duct tape and newspaper--even stuffed with newspaper!--except for the hanger in the top. It's still a bit lopsided in spots, but I like it anyway. Smiley

I've marked my measurements on it, and I've doodled a snake on the shoulder, partly because it was fun, and partly because I want that as a tattoo.

Here it is with a shirt I made a few years ago on it:

The shirt is made from an old red t-shirt. I added side panels and a bleeding heart applique. It's all hand sewn.

The side panel:

The sleeve is wonky because I wanted to make it a tank top but changed my mind, and it was my first sewing project.

The bleeding heart:

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Frog Hat--First Post! on: October 10, 2010 04:54:47 PM
My cousin asked me to make her a frog hat after she saw one kind of like it in a store, so I made her this:

It was mostly done just freehand--no pattern. I just made a circle and then stopped increasing. The shape was based off of one of the baby hats in The Happy Hooker.

The ear flaps and braids are especially based on that pattern, though this hat uses half double crochet instead of double crochet, and I had to modify it to fit an adult...

This is a close-up of the face--forgive the blurry picture!

The eyes are just balls, half white and half green. The smile took a surprisingly long time to make! It took forever to not look lopsided!
