21  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Duct Tape Corset! Complete with Oragami Embellishments on: June 03, 2012 08:49:50 PM
This is really cool! Does it work as a corset or is it just for show? Either way it looks amazing!

Okay, so I'm making/made a tank top(still have to finish the bottom hem) with that cheap costume chiffon in a TARDIS-y blue and I love it! It's flow-y and pretty and the color is wonderful, and the perfect length and the perfect amount of see through so that whatever color tank I wear under it can come through! But....It's too tight around my upper bust. Like right before my boobs. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent just scrapping the whole thing? I was thinking maybe making a v-cut would help take the strain off and open it up a bit, but I thought I might get some insight first. So does anyone know any fixes?

So I finished my costume and I cannot WAIT for Ren Fest or Halloween to get here. I adore it, and it looks pretty good! I just need to decide on the boots I'm going to wear. I have a pair of rubber willies I'll probably wear to the Ren Fest, and some hot "hooker heels" (knee high 3in heels) for a Halloween party I'm going to. I'll post as soon as I can get pictures! And congrats on everyone being so motivated!

Finished my corset and chemise! Tried them on with the petticoat and it looks amazing! I'll post pics when I can. I have never been so proud of my sewing. All I have to do now is find red fabric for the overskirt and I'll be done. I am soo excited!

I'm almost done with my costume!! I got my petticoat done, 90% of my corset(finish putting in grommets), 95% of my chemise(make casings for the ties because it is HUGE), and now all I need to do is find a red sheet to magically transform into an over skirt! Maybe make a hat. I can't start on my bestie's costume just yet because I have no idea what her measurements are. BUT, we are planning a catch-up Criminal Minds marathon for the upcoming premiere of season 7 and shall commence her costume making then!

Oh, and good luck to all you fellow costume-alongers! I have faith in your extraordinary ability and amazing creativity!

Great job! I loved the Penguins. They completely stole the show, so to speak. And I know exactly what you're talking about with the fires. I live up by the tri-county one over by Houston and we need some rain!

That is soo pretty! It's gorgeous! I wish I could do something so detailed. And we call button earrings studs. I don't know if that's all over, or just in the South, but still! Great job!

Great job! I seriously thought all the material was real, but it's crochet! I give you props. And I know how youfeel about the weather. I live in Houston and we only broke our 100 degree weather streak about a week ago after a month of 100 days. We missed August being complete 100 by one day! Hope it stays cool up there. And by cool, I mean 90. lol
