13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Painted Tattoo Flash Wedding Album on: May 05, 2009 04:59:39 PM
My sister-in-law is getting married this weekend, and since she lives in California, we couldn't afford to fly the whole crew out for the ceremony.  My husband is going, and is therefore the designated gift delivery boy.  I wanted to do a handmade gift, and something a little funky and non-traditional.  The groom is a tattoo artist, so I decided to make them a tattoo-styled wedding album.

I found a really pretty sketch on Deviantart (I'll post a link to the album if I can find the pic later) and transferred the image onto a fabric covered scrapbook.  And then I went to work painting it...and having not painted in years, it was quite a lot of experimenting.  I also had a few spots from the transfer paper here and there, so I did some cover up by covering the image and spraying some paint around the cover.  My only problem with the finished product is that the paint pen I used bled a little when it touched the fabric, so there are some blotches here and there.  But overall, I'm proud of it, and I think they'll love it.

I definately see Watchmen on the book lid...and possibly a Stephen King one (the grey one on the left).

They're all so cute.  <3  I love the panda one!  The tree set would look great framed.

Can you explain what the 'non-slip' stuff is you keep mentioning?  I've been wondering if you could use silicone sealant on the inside to give it a non-slip texture.  I've used it on doll joints to make them more sturdy, and it works wonders...and is cheap!

Are they connected or just laid out like that?  I could see that as a wall-hanging.  It's so fun!

Neverwhere was made into a comic book a few years ago.  You might want to see if one of your local shops has a copy of the trade in stock.  There may be some good picture references in there to spark your imagination.  My husband has the series, but I never got around to reading the whole thing, so I can't remember if there were any repeating images/symbols in it.

For the Buffy quote, what about a stake with the words winding around it or encircling it?

I believe she's an Elfdoll Soah. Here's their website.

Beautiful as always!  Freya looks wonderful!  I just ordered a Soah for myself, so I might have to hit your site up for some threads!
