i'm trying to limit the amount of stuff i carry around all the time.  i figured that was a pretty good reason to make a new wristlet!

after making a different tie bag (i have to get on to posting it!) i was left with many pieces of the skinny ends of ties.  had to use them, so here's what i came up with.

i am terrible of taking pictures of the things i make, so bear with me...



i quilted the black fabric and reinforced the bottom and sides of the bag

found this book at a used book store - the virginians by thackeray.  it was originally published in 1857! 

i filled it with all sorts of scrap paper i found around the house.

the endpages - it's inscribed with a name that i can't read, and "1918"


i kept the first few pages of the book in the book - there's some pretty sweet pictures - but this is the dedication page.  it's dated september 7, 1859

I'm going to visit my sister tomorrow, and she recently mentioned that she wished she had a sewing kit.  So, I whipped this up this morning.

The outside - it closes with some elastic around a button.


Open - she doesn't need much, so I put in a zippered pocket for thread, and two strips of felt for needles and safety pins.  I think I'm going to add some straight pins too.

I finally got off my bum to make my bed and take pictures to post here.  I've been meaning to do it for ages!  Most of the decorating in here was done quite a while ago, but I can't seem to stop adding things.   I hope you enjoy!

Here's the view from the door.  You can see my christmas lights, which I love.  They give a really soft, nice light to the room.


View from the door again... black duvet, papter lanterns that don't actually have any lights in them.  The wicker chest was my moms, I stole it from our basement. 


My bed.  A map of Italy given to me from my dad, because I went there this spring break.  I thought it matched quite nicely.


Standing at the window - shelving unit, also stolen from our basement.  I just found out my dad made it out of some old bifold doors!  Maybe he should join craftster!  The statues were given to me by a friend from Thailand.  And then there's photos of my lovelies.  (Being my sister and my best friends,) and my makeup.

And finally, a beautiful suitcase that you may have noticed at the end of my bed, belonged to my mom when she was a kid and recently discovered (in my basement!) and brought upstairs to be shown off.  I love it - and thought it deserved a photo all of it's own.

Here's my latest journal, made out of "Hempfield" by David Grayson, a novel published in 1915.  It has a dark green leather cover but the spine was a little decayed, so i reinforced it with some light card board.

Sorry for the huge pictures, I don't have a clue how to change that.

And, the pages, which I tea dyed using various types of tea, leaving most a tan colour, but some turned out purple from the berry tea  :

I made this clutch for my sister to take to grad, and (finally) have pictures to show you all. 

I made it out of black upholstery fabric, with a lining that is the same as what her dress was made out of.

Heres the whole thing, it does up with black beads on elastic string, and the "button" is actually a pin that she found and fell in love with.

And open, you can see the lining is a dark purple silky fabric:


Comments would be really appreciated!

i'm hoping to make a few buttons, using the blank buttons that you just pop the plastic cover off, put your picture in, and then pop it back on, but all i've been able to find is really large ones.  (i think the ones i saw were 2")
does anyone know where i can find smaller ones?  i'm looking for 1" or 1 1/4".

any help would be really appreciated!
