1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / A corkboard full of wisdom on: November 10, 2010 06:10:39 PM
I found this cork board at the salvation army for a dollar, and I wanted to dress it up to put on my crafting room wall, to ya know, stick my fashion design sketches on. Lately i've been having a struggle with getting 'older', and the words of a old, faithful, cartoon dog came to mind, to remind me, it's ok to be a 'has been'. I used glass cabochons on the edges, and acrylic paint on the rest.
The quote is from An American tale: Fievel Goes West.

5  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Bonnet Tutorial, or help? on: October 16, 2010 12:04:05 AM
A friend of mine needs me to produce a bonnet like this one for him, but I'm not quite sure how to do it. Hat making is a new thing fro me, so I can't quite figure out the pattern for something like this. Dose  any one know of a Tutorial for making something similar to this? Or even, what shape the pattern pieces would be? It for an Adult head, not a child.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Boring card table to [Epic] Gameing "Platform" on: October 05, 2010 10:09:31 PM
Well we kind of have a bit of a standard in our house. the down stairs living is out Sanctuary to our geekyness. So when we needed a table to play games on, i knew it had to be something special. I had this very odd shaped card table that was the prefect height to put a keyboard and mouse on when sitting on the couch (The alienwear is hooked up to the TV in the living room so we can play PC games on the sofa. l33+ comfort. LOL), so I took that, and a huge stack of free comics, flyers, and about 2 years worth f game informers and i set to work.
This is my first mod-podge projects. I know i still have alot to learn, but six coats later and it's pretty smooth. I was quite surprised. The house-mates love it so, i would say it's a successful addition to Das Nerd Haus!

Happy crafting!!
7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Gothic Funeral Wedding dress on: October 05, 2010 09:57:24 PM
A Friend of mine asked me to make her wedding dress! She was on a shoe string budge, but really deserved an amazing Dress. Her fiance is terminally ill, and she given her whole life to caring for him. She had sooo much love in her, it's amazing. So I wanted to make sure she had a completely fabulous dress even though she couldn't really afford one. I spent less than 20.00 on the whole dress. Most of it is reclaimed. The black solid is a bed sheet, the sheer and lace I had in my stash and the blue i got on sale at Hancock fabrics for 1.95 a yard. Everything else was pretty much in my stash.
The Corset was her own, that she painted with the blue flowers.
The entire project, with photos will be posted shortly on my blog @ http://plaid-boots.livejournal.com/9700.html

Our very excited bride to be. Granted her hair and make up isn't done, this was just a final fitting.

Hope you like!!

Stay crafty my friends <3

9  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Polite Mechanics, Upcycled Cyber-nior costumes for art film on: September 27, 2010 10:17:52 PM

Polite Mechanics by WitchWhoWalksWithoutFeet
Polite Mechanics.
This film a project by some of my friends, a chance for all off us to show off and making something really impressive together. I was told it the setting was... like if Blade Runner and Frank Sinatra had a baby. LOl Everything is made from up cycled materials. Bed sheets, reconstructed clothes, we even gutter a typewriter to make the jewelery. You can view the original design sketches, and the whole creation process @ my blog http://plaid-boots.livejournal.com/

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Ahhh! The hairdresser destoryed my hair! time for Hats (with link to tute!) on: September 05, 2010 07:30:06 PM
Well yesterday I went to the salon, and I told the woman I wanted a short, Velma Kelly bob. I've had this hair cut before and LOVED it. At the time my hair was a shaggy mess as i was letting my mohawk grow out. well the dirty little uh... bunt cake she was messed up my hair so bad i went home and cried. I look like a little boy with a reverse mullet. Soooo I did the only think I could think of... make some hats. And while i did I made a Tute for all of you who may suffer the same problem. (DO NOT got to a TGF or REGIS Salon, it was the master stylist/manager that jacked up my hair!)

So the whole tutorial with pictures and measurement is on my blog here: http://plaid-boots.livejournal.com/7877.html
Cuze yeah its was ALOT of pictures. Try it out!

The hat on the left is obviously a store bought hat, it was just a comparison.

What do you think? Dosen't really cover my hair enough for my tastes. Anyone go any other tute for better sewn hats to cover this awful do of mine.
