1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Making a sweater pattern bigger -- is it possible? on: February 23, 2005 08:27:48 AM
 Smiley

Hi everyone,

I just finished crocheting a sweater for a six month old baby. The pattern, once I figured it out with the help of fellow list members  Smiley was pretty easy.

Question is: Can I adapt this pattern to a much larger size, say, a child's size 10? Do you folks have any expertise with this? Your recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Many thanks,

Ryce
2  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Help with BAby sweater! on: January 24, 2005 12:16:32 PM
I am absolutely stumped! I am a beginning crocheter (read: virtually no experience!).

I started a Red Heart pattern for a babys sweater in V-stitches. The pattern said to work the sleeves first, so I did. Then, the body. I am at the row and stitch on the body of the sweater where I am supposed to join the sleeves. This is where it seems to fall apart (well, not literally). I cant seem to understand which part of the sleeve to join (you may laugh here, as I am so new to this, it causes me no end of merriment either) and whether I am supposed to crochet both through the body and the sleeve? The instructions say to skip the first dc of the sleeve, and then V-st in the first ch-1 space of the sleeve, but when I do this, the sleeve is separate from the body. Then the pattern says to continue in V-st for 14 more stitches. This doesn't seem to join with the body of the sweater, though. I just dont get this. Can anyone help? Has anyone ever encountered a pattern where the sleeves are worked first and then integrated in with the rest of the garment as the other pieces are worked?

Thank you,

Ryce
