11  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Sewing w/ the Grandkids !! on: April 10, 2011 07:55:07 AM
Had all 4 grandkids yesterday ( 7, 5, 2, & 2 ) it was a joy to try and sew with them LOL ( insert sarcasm here )

They all wanted shirts...except DGD #3 she wanted an entire outfit !

We got 2 of the 4 done and will do the other 2 today if my nerves and patience holds on long enough Smiley

First up is DGD #3 and her outfit.

The shirt - tshirt pattern, did rolled hem on the sleeves and the ruffles on the bottom. Giraffe applique using the same giraffe fabric as the sleeves and ruffles.

The pants - took a pair of DH's pants that didn't fit and just used the legs to cut the pattern that I made from another pair of her pants. Added the giraffe ruffles at the hem.

She's freshly potty trained so rather than mess around with zippers and buttons on the pants I just did them pull up to make bathroom runs easier for her Smiley

Next is DGD #1 - same tshirt pattern and methods, just different fabrics.

Modeling shot - I did a size 8 for her, but next time will definitely go with the 9. She's built real solid and beefy, I hate this this just "looks" small even though it's really not tight.

They had both just gotten out of bed, I made them model before they ran off and got their clothes dirty LOL

Please excuse the messy sewing/craft room. We were creating...not cleaning Smiley
12  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Embroidered Horse Shirt on: April 09, 2011 10:19:39 AM
I did this shirt last night for a personal swap I'm doing with KaoticKrafter, this is for her daughter. Used a basic t'shirt pattern I bought on Etsy. Size 5 - rolled hem on the sleeves and then I thought the length was just a tad short so I took an old adult t'shirt and used the bottom of it for a ruffle and neck on this one. Machine embroidered horse..and yeah I tried to put a tag in it, but well, I sort of put it in upside down so I just cut it out LOL

13  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Flip Flop Summer Dress on: March 31, 2011 09:58:25 AM

This was made this morning for DGD3 - although it's only in the 30s here today and they're calling for snow tonight  Huh  Shocked  She INSISTED she wear her new dress...so a tshirt underneath we have  Roll Eyes

Just simple shirred dress, rolled hem on top and bottom and then I took single fold bias tape stitched it flat and used that for the tie straps

14  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Some new shirts and fleece pants :) on: March 30, 2011 04:34:09 PM
I've shown off  a few handbags I made recently and I'd hate for anyone to think I can only sew bags LOL So here's some other recent items I did this past week for the grandkids Smiley

1st up - Camo Fleece lounge pants for DGS

Camo fleece slippers to go with above lounge pants - he was not happy till he had both Smiley

Reusable snack bags - velcro closure and I lined them with vinyl for easy cleaning...wipe and go Smiley

Sugar Skull / Day Of The Dead shirred summer top for DGD4

Knit zoo/animal print shirred summer top for DGD3

Basic square bottom bags lined, all have 3 inner pockets and close with a magnetic snap. Handles are all about 11"

The Mardi Gras Bag Smiley

Day of the Dead Bag Smiley

and the Breast Cancer Awareness Bag - This isn't wonky really, I just didn't smooth it out properly before snappy pics Sad

C&C always welcome and appreciated !
16  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Yet Another Bag :) on: March 20, 2011 08:15:02 AM
Finished this earlier this morning.

Suede feel outer shell interfaced and lined with an adorable skull print flannel fabric.

Bag has 3 inner pockets and closes with magnetic snap Smiley

It's a pretty nice size bag, 15" across the top, 10.5"x5" at the bottom and 10" deep with 10" straps

I cut out the outer fabric then popped it on the embroidery machine to do the skully swirl design in rose and green Smiley

C&C always welcome !

17  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / new shirt for MDGD on: March 19, 2011 08:18:04 AM
Just whipped this up this morning for my middle granddaughter ! I did use a pattern, but modified it so much, it's really not a pattern anymore LOL

Just a simple tshirt pattern then instead of putting on a neck binding I did a rolled hem and shirred the neckline and sleeves. then put a lettuce edge on the hem Smiley

Please excuse the seriously cluttered craft/sewing room in the background !! C&C always welcome and appreciated.

19  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New Purse on: March 17, 2011 06:45:38 AM
Just finished this last night Smiley

I ADORE the fabric will be hard to part with this one ! LOL

It's a nice roomy bag. Measures 10" wide at the bottom, 13" wide at the top, 10" tall, and 4" across at the base so very, very roomy. Also has 3 inner pockets that go all along one side of the bag so they're a very nice size.

20  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Middle Earth Map Coasters on: March 16, 2011 01:18:25 PM
I made these for thedish in the OWS this round. She received them today so now I can share them here with you Smiley

I took an image of a map of Middle Earth and resized it and cropped it until I got it to be 8x8 square. Once I printed it out I cut it into 4 equal squares of 4x4. Used Mod Podge to attach it to stone tiles and then let it dry, once dry I put another coat of mod podge on. All in all I think I have 5 coats of mod podge on there, and then 3 coats of a Krylon Clear Coat to seal it all in good. Cork on the back and we have a neat little map of Middle Earth...coaster style.
