1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Atticus' birthday quilt (he picked all the materials!) on: November 18, 2011 01:30:41 PM
My son, Atticus,  was turning 5 last year and wanted an owl quilt.  I took him to the store and he picked out all the material for the piecework.  This was my first time using binding on a blanket, so it was an experience. Smiley  For the back, I used a new twin sized jersey flat sheet that was part of a set on clearance while I was looking for something for the back.  We were running low on funds, his birthday is two weeks before Christmas. Atticus adores it. He is snuggled with it right now (he's almost 6 and has had strep throat twice in the past 3 weeks, poor guy!)
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Quilt for a little cousin of my husband's on: November 18, 2011 01:24:31 PM
We were invited to the birthday party of one of my husband's cousins, who was turning 3.   Anyway, I wanted to do something special for her birthday, despite the fact that we wouldn't be attending.  I bought her a couple of cute outfits, a couple of little toys and then I made a quilt for her. I dropped it off at my mother-in-laws the day before her party for her to bring.  It's one of my first quilts and a bit wonky, but she loved it. I used zebra print fleece for the backing and batting in one.
3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Babies and caterpillars and koalas, oh my! on: August 23, 2010 01:10:09 PM
I need to handmake/sewing machine make pretty much all of my baby's Christmas gifts since due to an emergency situation, we had to spend the Xmas money we had set aside to buy him a new crib.  He is obsessed with a stuffed koala and a stuffed very hungry caterpillar.  Does anyone have any suggestions that do not involve blankets?  I already plan on making him a little outfit and some pants.  He's about 11 months old right now.
