1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Resident Advisor (RA) Job on: April 12, 2006 05:36:03 PM
Hi Fellow Craftsters-

I just found out I will be a RA next year at my school, I am very excited. But I need some help from the crafters of the world. First, we need to make a postery type thing of where we are at on campus (library, class, sleeping, etc) and something to mark which one we are at. For example, my RA this year made a solar system thing and an astronaut marked where she is at. So, I need some idease for what I can make, my major is elementary education if that helps at all. Also, we need to make door decorations so I need some ideas for very creative door decorations (they have to have the residents name on it). Any help is really appreciated. Thanks so much!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Cross Stitching Help on: February 26, 2006 02:25:01 PM
Hi Fellow Cross-Stitchers-

I just bought a new product and it says to wash the floss in warm soapy water and let it dry before actually crossstitching. I've never done this before, I am just weird or what? Can you let me know if this works and what exactly it does. Thanks! Ohh, one more thing. When I tape around the outside of the project ( to keep the thing from ratting off) I usually use masking tape, do you thinking packing tape would work? I appreciate your help. Thanks!

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Famous Cities- 2nd Grade on: February 22, 2006 07:47:02 PM
Hello Craftsters-

Well I get to do my first field experience in my Intro to Ed. Class. I am very excited. So, it is me and a partner, we will be working with 10-ish 2nd graders and our theme for 6 weeks is "Famous Cities." The bummer is we only get with them 1hr a week. We're thinking doing the following cities: New York, Rome, Paris, London and maybe one or two more. Well here is where I need your help. We want to do a lot of hands on stuff. Here's what we're thinking so far:
-Make your own money
-Make a countries flag
-Making crowns
-Learning common words in other languages
-Word Searches
-Learning Roman Numerals

...and thats about all we have. We're not sure exactly what we're going to do yet but I'd love any more ideas if you have them. Remember, they are only 2nd grade. I appreciate your help. Thanks!!!

7  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Wish Swap Round 4- Angels Needed on: January 01, 2006 04:05:55 PM
Alrighty, sadly girlwonder flaked so we need 2 angels for this swap. I'm hoping we won't need anymore.

For Obsessed:
This clutch, in a nice fabric. maybe in a golden color with a pattern or texture..velvet would be cool for winter.. Maybe with some rhinestones? Magnetic enclosure instead of the button.  http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24610.0
An added note from Obsessed...
Whoever crafts for me, I can craft something small for them as a thank you- I crochet, so armwarmers, or a pair of slipper socks, or a mini teddy bear (I love my mini teddy's) Or even a panta (I havent made one yet, but as long as there is a pattern, I can pretty much make anything) I'm also developing a "swap organizer book", so maybe I can make one for my angel so they can keep track of their swaps/

For Bobolink:
"I had asked for a kick-ass doll, like a pirate, mermaid or scientist (since that's what I am). Since that's a pretty big request, I'd be happy with a cute stuffy too."

PLEASE PM ME IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING AN ANGEL, IT WOULD BE VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Year Round Swap on: December 11, 2005 04:47:49 PM
Okay, this may be crazy and a lot. But, I thought it'd be fun to have a year round swap where we swap some sort of holiday/seasonal decorations for each month. We'd make lets say 3 small things each month and then include a letter. Our first month would result in sendout by the end of January/ early February. We could all decide on what holiday each month. Here's what I'm thinking.

February- Valentines Day
March- St. Patricks Day
April- Easter? Spring Time?
May- May Baskets ?
June- Summer Time ?
July- 4th Of July
August- Fall ?
September- Back to School ?
October- Halloween
November- Thanksgiving
December- Christmas
January- Winter time
10  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / The Decorations at Target on: December 11, 2005 04:25:16 PM
Okay ya know in Target, the big ornament/snowflake decorations... Well I work at Target and I'm having the manager person save all* of those big decorations for me. My moms thinking of somehow mounting them to wood and making them be yard decorations with stakes attached. Well I thought I'd see if anyone had anymore ideas, please list 'em here. Thanks!
