11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Cross Stitching Help on: February 26, 2006 02:25:01 PM
Hi Fellow Cross-Stitchers-

I just bought a new product and it says to wash the floss in warm soapy water and let it dry before actually crossstitching. I've never done this before, I am just weird or what? Can you let me know if this works and what exactly it does. Thanks! Ohh, one more thing. When I tape around the outside of the project ( to keep the thing from ratting off) I usually use masking tape, do you thinking packing tape would work? I appreciate your help. Thanks!

13  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Latest News / Re: 12/28/05 - What Serious Problems Are You Having Since the Server Move? on: February 22, 2006 07:51:13 PM
I'm having the same problem again, its been really slow and I just have a problem entering the forum. I'm curious Leah, have you ever thought about a mandatory membership fee? I'm sure all of this stuff gets so spendy.
14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Famous Cities- 2nd Grade on: February 22, 2006 07:47:02 PM
Hello Craftsters-

Well I get to do my first field experience in my Intro to Ed. Class. I am very excited. So, it is me and a partner, we will be working with 10-ish 2nd graders and our theme for 6 weeks is "Famous Cities." The bummer is we only get with them 1hr a week. We're thinking doing the following cities: New York, Rome, Paris, London and maybe one or two more. Well here is where I need your help. We want to do a lot of hands on stuff. Here's what we're thinking so far:
-Make your own money
-Make a countries flag
-Making crowns
-Learning common words in other languages
-Word Searches
-Learning Roman Numerals

...and thats about all we have. We're not sure exactly what we're going to do yet but I'd love any more ideas if you have them. Remember, they are only 2nd grade. I appreciate your help. Thanks!!!

Maybe you could start sign-ups soon, it seems like plenty of people are ready now. Maybe give about a month to gather goodies.

About meI am 24 (25 on Dec. 18th, yay!) & a Business major.
I spend my non-work time moderating on Craftster & FreeCycle, at the gym, photographing, playing Battlefield (pc), drawing, running marathons, bicycling around Ohio, and with my boyfriend & our house full of critters (dogs, cat, fish & lizard).
My style depends on my mood, but my favorite colors & combinations are always red&black, dark blue, pink&grey, and bold yellow.
Some things I like are tattoos, glass, artistic representations of elephants (glass & metal sculpture, abstract, etc), and being outdoors
