1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Web Design? on: September 14, 2010 09:24:20 PM
I am working on a new website, but honestly, it's more than I can handle. I've contacted a few designers and gotten prices from 500-3,000 dollars? Which is defiantly out of my price range. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a designer? Or has a suggestion for me? Thanks.
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Tassle Necklace Help? on: August 28, 2010 01:25:39 AM
So, I've been seeing these sterling tassel necklaces everywhere, and I'd love to have one... but I don't have *cough* 100$!!!... And I have enough chain that I could make it myself, though, I am slightly confused on what I assume is a bead cap?

or maybe a cone?!

Also, I'm totally lost on what size I would need?

And if that's not enough, haha, I am also curious where I could find either said bead cap/cone without spending 20+ dollars (cause I really only need one and would have no idea what to do with a package of 10+)

Ideas?  Undecided
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Needlecase? Ideas? on: August 10, 2010 04:28:56 AM
I have completely fallen in love with Chatelaines. I would like to try and make one (for sewing specifically). Tiny scissors, measuring tape and the like are super easy to find. I however, can not, for the life of me find a needlecase that is antique (in my price range) and it seems like the modern woman doesn't find a need for pretty little needlecases (I however, do!). If you have any ideas on how I could make one, it would be much appreciated.
4  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Fabric? on: March 24, 2010 12:33:23 AM
Okay, so I am having a love affair with quilts. (Truth be told, for the past 3 years, my bed has been adorned with pretty but store bought quilted coverlets)

I'd like to try my hand at sewing a quilt and defiantly had some serious inspiration from all of you. But, how the heck do you afford the fabrics?

I'm sure there has to be a more economically friendly way to do this. (i.e. I am broke)

I've seen post about thrift store t-shirts. The problem is that the fabric is so stretchy that I never manage to sew it right (despite many efforts) Hey, we've all got that one thing we can't do, right?

And I know that from time to time you can get coupons at craft stores, but it's limited to one cut of fabric. So it would take me forever to get enough coupons to make this viable.

So, the question is? Is quilting for the rich? Where do you find fabrics? And any other tips?

5  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / I am not 3, but my shoes are! (with pictures) on: March 18, 2010 08:38:52 PM
So, I am a cat lover, and a shoe lover, so why not combine the two?

I've been super inspired by all the people and the shoes they made. Here are my kitty shoes...

These are the original shoes.

The shoes painted.

The obligatory action shot.

They are plastic/vinyl. I painted them using Deco Color pens. I'll let you know how the paint holds up with wear and tear if you're interested  Cheesy

I really love them, what do you think?
