63  First Ever Embroidery Attempt! in Needlework: Completed Projects by JessySihk on: May 02, 2010 05:55:34 AM
Ok so, i have a bunch of floss left over from when i thought i wanted to weave large friendship bracelets with pictures on them and stuff, and just a few hours ago it popped into my head "Hey, lets look up embroidery!" So I did, and i found a cool website with tons of photos tutorials, really easy to follow, and I was like "Whoa, this is way easier and more fun than I thought it would be =]"
So I picked up muh needle and floss and some fabric scraps i had lying around! Viola! Instant mothers day gift =D and its my very first time attempting embroidery, its alright for my first try right? I know its simple but i like it =] Im going to make my grandma a slightly different one and have it be a Tea Book to put her packets of tea bags in!

Full view (Its not the stitching thats off, my handwriting really is that awful lol)

Up close of the detail =]

Inside, white cotton pages for the needles!

64  First Ever Circle Skirt! ~Pic Heavy~ in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by JessySihk on: May 01, 2010 03:57:50 AM
Ok so, im a Beginning sewer but not lol  I have been doing very simple basic stuff since i was a little girl and my grandmother taught me to use her machine. I stopped being interested in it when i hit teenage years, we all know how the teens get apathetic right?

Well now i commandeer My mothers machine as often as i can at the age of 20  To sew to my hearts delight, i love making clothing for myself, I saw a tutorial on how to do a circle skirt so i decided to make one for the first time ever!
Here is the result! I got this fabric in a trade off Craigslist in a box full of other fabric. This was one of the ones that was not really my style and in my eyes sort of ugly  I dont like brown much. My boyfriend took one look at it (he likes brown) and told me to make a skirt. So here it is, and surprisingly I LOVE IT!

I added a tie on the hip in front and a pleat right at my but in the back
Lots of pictures now follow...

Front view

Close up of the thought to be Hideous fabric!

67  Re: Personal/Private Swap Gallery, First Half 2010 in The Swap Gallery by JessySihk on: April 23, 2010 04:26:45 PM
Ok, so this wasnt a personal swap i did through crafster, I met someone on Craigslist who wanted to trade =]
I made them this "Toothless the cutest dragon in the world" Coin purse, i also gave them some hand made jewelry, and i got supplies in return =D
What you guys think?
I completely hand stitched the thing because my mom is borrowing the sewing machine =X i hate not having it, but it gives me a chance to practice my hand stitch, its not too bad =]
