well..I got this idea from shade72, i think that's her name. anyway, my friend's birthday is tomorrow and i made this fo her in about an hour, it could have been less if i wasn't "studying" for my midterms. Anyway, it's not exactly the same thing but quite similar, here are some pictures..
Hmm..i guess the night is still young and there's more time to be wasted instead of studying, so I'll post a tutorial.
Materials: glass beads - found in the floral department of ragshop black string little circular pictures - found in any magazine hot glue gun glue
allrighty, so i began with a magazine, looking for interesting patterns in the pages, surprisingly, i found a lot of these in the swim suit portion of this magazine and i felt very akward when i was cutting it out.
after i found some pictures i cut them out and glued them onto the back of the glass bead, regular glue will do. I made five of these to fit around my wrist.
Here's a hat that I made last year, I also made a flower to go with it, crocheted and put together with safetly pins of course. In the beginning it looked pretty decent but after wearing the hat out and people touching it, the flower kinda.."wilted." http://server2.uploadit.org/files/beatles52-hatalone.jpg
allrighty, i made some earrings a while ago and i decided that i should post them up here..so here they are.
They're all really simple to make, except for the button earring. All you need to do to make a guitar pick or soda tab earring, is drill a hole and get some earring hooks, i don't know what they're called sorry. For the earrings with the tiny beads, i used a stickpin with a flat bottom, and strung on some beads. Then i attached it to an earring hook. The most complicated earring to make was the button one. I got some buttons and i threaded the thread through the holes and around the sides, then i threaded it through the hook in the earring hook and tied it around a couple of times. Yeah, i'm not the best at explaining things, sorry.
here's a tip: buy lots of clear duct tape BEFORE you start, you can always return unused tape afterwards, it saves time instead of running to the store everytime you need more. feel free to email or im me if you have any questions. allrighty, here's my attempt at some type of tutorial.
MATERIALS: starburst wrappers - i used 192 that's about 1 big bag and two smaller ones clear duct tape red duct tape black duct tape belt from flea market
The first thing you should do it to plan out your bag. For instance, I had 8 colors so i made the front sheet 6 x 8 wrappers, the back sheet 12 x 8, and the sides 3 x 8. For the bottom i just stuck a bunch of the red duct tape together and drew on it. Next, I ate the wrappers, it's not too hard just get your friends to take a bunch, eat them, and return the wrappers. make sure you get them back though. try to decide on the colors before you buy, it kinda helps. Once I got back all of the wrappers I took the clear duct tape and i laid the wrappers next to each other, try to line them up as close together as you can, leaving a little bit of space on the top and bottom. Once you've lined up as many as you need, cut the tape and continue making these strips.
okay so the last time i tried to finish this tutorial it was around the midterms and now i'm about to take finals..so let's see where i left off..
next, i decided on how long and how wide i wanted my bag to be. First i found the dimension of the front part and for the back i just doubled it. Then i found how big i wanted the sides. All you have to do now is just lay out the strips into the size that you want it to be. [note: it's easier to measure the bag by the amount of wrappers instead of by inches or whatever. for example: hmm..i think i want my bag to be 10 wrappers by 15 wrappers)
okay so to make the mats of wrappers for the bag, all you have to do is lay the strips of wrappers on top of each other and then place tape over that.
