2  Transformation from Zipper to Dragonfly in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Theaquacreature on: June 03, 2012 03:16:37 PM
Here is another project I did in my ceramics class. The piece(s) are one object transforming into another. I chose some slightly personal objects. The zipper because I love to sew, and the dragonfly because they are the coolest and most majestic creature, well in my opinion! I call it the 4 pieces together "Zipperfly". Each piece is about a foot to a foot and a half long and wide. Here they are!

Normal Zipper

Transforming piece. 75% Zipper, 25% Dragonfly!

Second transforming piece. 25% Zipper, 75% Dragonfly...

And the Dragonfly!

This project was definitely the most challenging and frustrating ceramic project yet! The pieces kept breaking while I was making them. This was mostly likely due to how big they are, and because they dried out to quickly while in the green/wet state. I almost gave up on the pieces altogether, but I am glad I stuck it out and glazed them! They turned out pretty good, well I think!

Here are a few close ups!

Thanks for looking!

3  Canon Camera Wall Hanging - Ceramic Peices in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Theaquacreature on: June 03, 2012 02:39:14 PM
Well Yellow! The following piece was made in my ceramic class. It is a personal inspired slab wall hanging. I really love photography and especially the vintage aspect of it. I also admire polaroids, so I made three ceramic polaroids that reflect me! The camera is about 12" by 9" by 2". the polaroids are about 4" by 3" by 1"! The piece is made with the hand building slab technique! Here it is!

A cupcake in the lens! Because they are ridiculously cute and I love them!

The complete hanging project!

Close up on the polaroids! Left to right, Crafter, Dreamer, Vivacious. Thats what I am!

Hope you enjoyed!

Thanks for looking! Cheerio!

4  Nature Attack, Award Winning Ceramic Pod Piece! in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Theaquacreature on: June 03, 2012 01:43:49 PM
Hello Crafty Community! As some of you may know I have been really into ceramics and been taking ceramic classes at my local college. As of recently I entered one of my pieces into the student art show. I am very excited to announce that I won first place ceramics on this piece! So here it is!

I call it Nature Attack! It is 2 feet tall and actually pretty heavy!

The complete piece consists of 4 separate ceramic "pods" that each slide onto a vertical rod. Each pod is inspired by nature and its textures!

From top to bottom the objects are feathers, the next one is an octopus suction inspired shape. After that one is a tree trunk inspired object and the one on the bottom is a trio mushroom piece.

Here is the after show admiration. SUCH A BIG RIBBON!

6  Peacock Inspired Feather Earrings in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Theaquacreature on: February 06, 2012 12:32:46 PM
Hello Lovely's

I thought I would share a project I just completed. I've been wanting to make feather earrings for a while now and peacock feathers are my favorite.

The cool part is I recycled old jewelry to make these. The feathers are also from my chickens minus the dyed craft feathers.

Hope you enjoyed checking these babies out!

7  Coil Vase, Ceramic's Project in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by Theaquacreature on: January 29, 2012 11:45:37 PM
When I took my first ceramic's class last semester at college the minute I touched the raw clay I knew that it would become my favorite medium! It has become a growing passion that I enjoy!
During the duration of the class I made many projects but here is my coil vase project!

The black spikes on the vase were inspired by the work of Heather Knight http://www.heatherknightceramics.com/. She makes amaing sea urchin bowls, and they really inspire(d) me. I have a special thing for the ocean!

I used high fire on the piece as to make it water tight!

More projects to come. Hope you have enjoyed!

Hello Craftster!

I've been making these dog collars that I find quite ravishing to look at. Take a look for yourselves!

I was able to sell a few at a local arts and craft fair and I have donated a good deal of them to the local Humane Society that I love with all of my heart. You can check the Humane Society out here at http://www.hstt.org/

Here are a few more pictures of the collars! They have heavy duty buckles and D rings. They are also super adjustable and durable!

And of course my adopted puppy helping herself to my photo-shoot items!

Hope you have enjoyed to your hearts content!

The most tasty cupcake created in the ceramic world!

The piece is a solid sculpture that is low-fire glazed. I have a THING for cupcakes lately!

10  Re: Bubble Wrap Necklace - Step by Step Tutorial in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Theaquacreature on: June 13, 2011 02:52:25 PM
Grin This is a prefect present for my girlfriend (friend thats a girl) who is graduation high school! she will think that this is the "SHIT!". I am thinking about experimenting a little with it and seeing if I could melt in colors? I'll post the project when I finish it!
Let us know how that turns out.I was thinking maby a small picture in between the last two sheets?

You can see the project I used these in at this link: http://chesslescreations.blogspot.com/2011/06/hand-made-travel-journal.html

This is the results you get when you use crayon fused in with bubble wrap. After some experimenting I found it best to melt the bubble wrap with crayon, cut out the colored bubble wrap and the fuse all of the colors together to get the best flag coloring results. Oh and if you don't have parchment paper, tinfoil works well also! A picture or trinkets in between the bubble wrap would be awesome! What if you put a pressed flower in between the bubble wrap? Awesome! So many cool options!
