21  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: IYP 20 Winter Chillin' Cotillion (Signups Feb 11 - Feb 29 -- Send by April 2) on: February 28, 2012 11:21:00 AM
I finished a fun project for jemimah last night! I like how it turned out and I managed to finish it without want to throw my sewing machine across the room.

Grin  ... and I'm so glad your sewing machine wasn't a casualty ...

Hello lovelies!! This is such an awesome swap, one of my great faves Smiley

I'm so excited to be crafting with jemimah (and a little nervous because she's AMAZING)!!

I think you said that the wrong way round, because I'm super excited and a teeny bit nervous, and YOU are AMAZING! Cheesy

Proof of my silliness:-
I was going through some patterns on the weekend, and spotted a cool looking Japanese pattern I must have printed out a while back. It's one of those ones all in Japanese with diagrams and a drawing, and measurements. It's easy enough to follow, I think.

So I look at the drawing and think, oh a __________, what a nifty pattern, Lime light like one of those! Let's give it a try. Cut, cut, cut ... sew, sew, sew .... fold, tuck, fiddle ... sew, sew, sew ... think smugly to self, Oh, Lime is going to think I'm so clever Smiley .... get to last step ... hang on a minute, that's not a ___________ at all! It's a __________!  ....

... thinking face ....

So I added in an extra piece of fabric and made it into something else entirely!  Cheesy  (... anyone here read Japanese ?)

texscrapper has been a bit busy, so I offered to post a pic of the earth-tones knitted scarf I sent her. Smiley

Mervyn Peake is definitely ... um ... unique, and can be quite hard work ... his book Mr Pye is much easier going, and a charmingly odd story.

I did enjoy the TV series of Gormenghast, but I'm not sure how involving I would have found it if I didn't already know the characters from the books, it had to skim over a lot. But it's probably worth a try, it does have Jonathan Rhys Meyers in it, after all. Wink

29  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 77-79 Discussion Thread for Swap related only! on: February 14, 2012 04:32:07 PM
Hi everyone! I might be out of OWS for the next round or two, just with life being how it is right now. But I'm still checking in to see how you all are, and admire all the crafty goodness.

Hope everyone's doing OK Smiley  We will be moving to an apartment in Wellington later this year, so I have some serious destashing/organising/downsizing to do!!
