11  Re: WIP Wednesday - June 23 in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by kristel1978 on: June 25, 2010 05:25:52 AM
I'd love to see this when it's finished with all those swirls!

Since last Wednesday I finished the afghan I was working on (yay!) and with the leftover yarn I decided to make the Granny's No Square bag from Debbie Stoller's Happy Hooker book. I don't have rings or rivets yet, so for now I'm done.

Friends of ours just had a baby girl so I'm also working on a pink baby blanket (no.35, 200 squares by Jan Eaton):

I've done about 12 octagons so far. In most of them I made the same mistake: I put in 3 sc in the corners of row 13 where there should be one. The previous rows are done with three and so is the last so I just never noticed the difference in row 13. You read what you want to read - that's obvious. It makes the edges pucker a bit, but fortunately that doesn't show when you sew them together.

I don't like the way the triangles stick out and I really hope the edging will fix that  Cheesy.

One octagon closer to finishing the afghan  Grin! I've noticed that in some of my squares the change of color looks all right, but in others it looks a bit off. Is that what you mean?

What I've done so far:

This is all I can do with the 2 colors I've got. Can't wait till the 15th, hopefully I'll get the other colors by then.

15  Three bedfellows for my kids in Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller by kristel1978 on: March 30, 2010 05:46:59 AM
I can't show the photo yet, as I'm new here, but I'll add it asap. -added the pic for you. fantasticmio Thanks!

The pink bear was my first and after finishing that one the sheep and bunny soon followed. It was good fun making them - and a great way to use leftover yarn. I've also tried amigurumi, but so far they didn't turn out so well (very odd long head). I followed the pattern for bunny, but apparently I dozed off or the pattern is not entirely accurate, 'cause its face turned out a bit big. It's cute though  Wink.

I think they'd also make great baby gifts (safety eyes) and some of my friends are due in a few months, so I'll probably make more with colors to match the baby's rooms.
