A couple of weeks ago I had wrist surgery. I was in despair since I couldn't knit without pain and my hands were itching to make something. I'm fairly new at making stuffed animals but I got a wild hair to see if I could make my son a dinosaur toy. The only problem was I didn't like what I was finding online since most of them weren't as simple and fast to make sounding. I wanted to make it 3D with four legs and so, the dinosaur pattern was born. I had no idea how to make my own. This page: http://whileshenaps.typepad.com/whileshenaps/2011/01/elements-of-soft-toy-design-underbodies.html was so very helpful.
Made from red and blue felt, here's my son's dinosaur!
It's pretty neat, I think.
The gusset that when I make another one will be a bit bigger since he was kind of narrow.
The best part (and the whole reason I had to make a gusset) was this. He stands on his own!
I had a lot of fun learning how to make my own pattern here. My son knew exactly what it was and hearing him go RAWR at it made it completely worth the pain it caused to make. (Pinning is hard!) Haha.
