5  Stenciled/sewn/layered R.L. Burnstine hoody! in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by mandapocalypse on: December 12, 2010 12:19:11 AM

Soooo.... My partner and I are punk rockers who happen to also be obsessed with the blues. One of his favorite musicians is R.L. Burnside. A favorite song is "Goin' down South." Also, I happen to be moving down South to be with him! It's freezing here in MN and he was compaining about being chilly down there also, so I'm sending him this hoody I decorated! (How sweet, right?)

I wanted it to look old, layered,  sort of abstract, ghostly and worn. It didn't come out exactly as I wanted, but I figure it'll look better once it's ACTUALLY worn in and not so fresh and crispy.
I was visiting my mother when I made this so I didn't really have the proper tools/materials I'd have liked.

I used:
-Black canvas
-Recycled fabric
-Spray paint
-Fabric paint
-Sewing machine
-Exacto knife and paper to make the stencils

Here's some pictures of the process.

Found a picture online & printed

Had to add a skull in there...  Tongue

6  Basil! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by mandapocalypse on: September 19, 2010 11:17:52 PM
I'm sure most of you have a flourishing basil plant round' this time....

Besides making a ton of pesto after harvesting... I like to chop it up, add a little olive oil, and with water freeze it into ice cube trays.
After frozen, taking the blocks of basil out and putting them in a ziplock bag.
So..... when in winter, craving some basil, just take a block out and throw it into your pasta, or what have you.
Tricks!
