81  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / First attempt at reconstructing shoes! on: May 14, 2010 10:17:19 PM
So I tried making a shoe a few weeks ago, I cut up an old pair of converse, gutted the insides, based a new pattern off the old one and sewed everything inside.

Overall, its not very comfortable, I left way too much material on the bottom so its lumpy, and also glued it too far down on the pattern so theres not as much fabric around the foot as I would like, but I think it was a great learning process and I know what to do better next time!!!

any comments/critiques welcome.
Also, anyone know how to avoid having such an obvious edge around the shoe from where the old material was? its really noticable (at least when I look at it Tongue)

I think after 22 years Im finally going through that frilly girly clothing phase that I didnt go through when I was young.. I ended up making a skirt (clue one of the phase) and covered it in umpteen layers of lace (clue #2)..oh well. I like it Smiley

unfortunately you cant see the layers too well..

this one you can see a bit better..

85  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / I made another hat!! Victorian styled on: April 02, 2010 03:37:06 PM
I made another hat!

This time I went all out coating everything in lace.. I had so much with this, and Im really happy with how it turned out.

Id never wear it myself I dont think (not much of a fan of white Tongue) but.. it was mostly an experiment

The front is part of a corset I had, I had been saving pieces of it for a while since it was badly made (mass produced le chateau top..)

The back

I dont look happy, hahaha!

Please let me know what you think Smiley
86  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / First attempt at Shrinky Dinks SO pleased!!! on: March 28, 2010 05:33:13 PM
So I finally went out and picked up some SD stuff today, was so excited to try it out.

(My store/shop/etsy/brand/whatever you call it logo)

First thing I did was get out an old stencil I used to put on a shirt of a nautical star and traced it in marker (and I made a mistake first line, oh well) so the coloring itself didnt turn out how I wanted it too, and my line was crooked but thats okay.

then I colored some scrap pieces from around the star (didnt want to waste them!)

(star with extra line and abstract thingys)
Then.. spent the next couple episodes of Dexter on my computer tracing out my logo from my etsy shop, and coloring that in. And Im SO HAPPY with how it turned out!! Now I get to wear a little tag of my own work everywhere I go, and when people ask.. BAM! Theres a business card. Hahaha.

(etsy logo again)
Anyway, anyone who ever wanted to try shrinky dinks but was worried to.. I highly suggest you do. Its amazing.
87  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Pencil skirt.. why did I have to be short on fabric?! on: March 28, 2010 01:13:35 PM
Im so sad.. I made this pencil skirt and it ended up being too small. I only had so much grey material to work with and although its super stretchy it doesnt fit me comfortably.. I finished it anyway, and I hope it will find a home.

Thanks for taking a look and please let me know what you think!

Just a tshirt recon I did.. took a beatles top that had pretty silver lettering, cut off the back and added a new one out of this gorgeous grey material with black and silver designs on it!

89  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Easiest skirt ever made on: March 24, 2010 03:44:03 PM
Hey! So I had this crazy pink and blue striped material, and decided to use some to make this skirt.. too easy! haha. I didnt hem it (top or bottom) its stretchy enough I didnt have to add an elastic or zipper.. all I did was sew one stitch.. thats right! ONE down the back, and pulled the extra material over, pinned it on each hip and added a little bow made out of matching blue fishnet and a glittery star button.

The stripes probably make my butt look HUGE but I dont care, haha. I love it. Super comfy but really think so gotta get something to wear underneath.. thus the silly pink tights in the pictures.

Please let me know what you think Smiley

I recycled an old tie I had into a set of wristcuffs.. I dont know if anyone else put up something like this before or not (not that it matters though Tongue) but I think theyre quite groovy and Im going to wear them to death.

Let me know what you think!
