1  Wil Wheaton Geekery in Needlework: Completed Projects by steenface on: February 23, 2010 10:40:55 AM
Hi! Just joined the board and thought I would post one of my favorite cross-stitches yet. I started out just doing Santa-themed cross-stitch pieces for my mother-in-law but found I really, really loved needlework and am hoping to branch out into other types of needlework.

Anyway, I introduce to you:

The Wil Wheaton Clown Sweater Cross-stitch

I don't really know for sure exactly how this came up. I started looking at geeky crafts then somehow latched onto the idea of doing a pixelated project. Diesel Sweeties (a webcomic) did an avatar of Wil Wheaton wearing the infamous clown sweater, which is one of my most favorite graphics ever.  I ran it through PC Stitch, cleaned it up a bit and went at it.  It's nothing fancy and took about four or five days, stitching a few hours at a time.

I posted it on my blog (http://www.steenface.com/?p=1427) and Rich Stevens, who runs Diesel Sweeties, must have seen the link to his site. He Twittered it, then Wil Wheaton Twittered it and my blog traffic went crazy. It was bizarre but really awesome.

Anyway, I'm thinking my next project will be video-game related... but I'm quickly getting sidetracked by all the awesome things I'm seeing on here!!
