91  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Giant Long Stem Rose Scarf---->Free Link included! on: March 11, 2011 05:32:57 AM

What do you get when you combine an Irish leaf, a hollow tube and a hyperbolic bloom? You get a Long Stem Rose Scarf, that's what! I'm so happy with the way this scarf developed. It uses  Red Heart Super Saver yarn and an I/5.5mm hook. It's 62 inches long and crocheted in one piece. Along with the written directions, I have also included a photo slide show with all the steps to making the leaf and rose. It's perfect for Birthdays, Mother's Day, gardeners, Valentine's Day or just because!

92  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Angel Wings Double Pineapple Scarf---->Free Link! on: March 10, 2011 05:29:35 AM

Double Pineapple Angel Wings

Cathedral Pineapple End

Here is a prayer scarf/shawl that is made with one skein of Red Heart Super Saver. I used an I/5.5mm hook and it measues 8 inches wide by 62 inches long. This is a very nice pattern to work if you've never tried the pineapple stitch before. I have included the slide show of step by steps in the pattern, so just follow along and you'll be done with your scarf in no time flat!
You don't have to use it for a prayer scarf, it's pretty enough just to wear around the office when it gets a little too chilly.

I hope you enjoy this lacy scarf!

93  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Leafy Ladder Stitch Scarf In Painterly Colors--->Free Pattern Link on: March 08, 2011 06:06:50 AM

I blended two strands of yarn at different points in the scarf to get a nice gradation of color. The yarn was Red Heart Super Saver and my hook size was a P/11.5 mm. This is a good way to use up your scraps as you don't have to follow what I did, but make it your own. I'm getting so many compliments on this scarf!
It's really fast to make!

94  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Plump Moon Goddess with link to free pattern on: March 07, 2011 04:32:58 AM

Here is a Plump Moon Goddess and her twin moon pals! I used Aunt Lydia's crochet thread,#10 in purple and my Lee Wards #7 steel hook. The size is 7x7 in inches. Also, this was made in the extended double crochet stitch to get a more accurate gauge. Using the the normal double crochet will yield a plumper goddess, but will still be very nice.

I would like to share this little frog chart with you today. It's 31 squares by 31 squares, so it not too big of a project to tackle. I used my favorite stitch, the extended double crochet. Finished in #10 thread and a #7 steel hook is 8x8 inches.

97  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Rosary and Chaplet Prayer Beads with Free Pattern Link on: February 12, 2011 06:45:29 AM

One Decade Wrist Chaplet

5 Decade Rosary

Rosary and Chaplet side by side

I wanted to make a rosary and also a chaplet which has less decades, and I wanted them to be entirely crocheted, including the beads, cross and medallion.

I used ordinary worsted, Red Heart Super Saver scraps that were less than 1/2 ounce. My hook was an aluminum Susan Bates F/3.75mm.The entire work was made in one piece with no stopping or joining yarns.
The rosary is 23 inches and the chaplet is 9 inches and can be worn as a bracelet.

99  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Recycled T-Shirt Spaghetti Yarn Bowl or Basket ---> Free pattern link! on: February 08, 2011 06:56:56 AM

My bowl filled with Wade figurines

Empty Bowl with liner

Here is a quickie project that uses a partial ball of T-Shirt Spaghetti Yarn.
I wanted to finish off the bottom of the basket with a liner so I recycled a plastic lid and covered it with a scrap of t-shirt fabric. I like the way it looks and things don't fall out!

The measurements are 4 inches wide and 3 inches tall. I used a P/11.5 hook.

100  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Crochet an Eternal Red Rose in the Filet Stitch--->Free Pattern Link on: February 07, 2011 01:27:54 PM

Here is a rose that will never die!

This chart is only 25 squares x 25 squares and can be completed in a a couple of evenings. I used #10 red thread and a my vintage Lee Ward's #7 steel hook.
I chose the extended double crochet stitch instead of the double crochet stitch to get a truer proportion, but feel free to use a double or even a triple. My piece measured 9 inches x 9 inches.

You can find the fre pattern here:
