31  Crocher Spinal Column Shawl with free pattern link! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: August 23, 2012 08:12:45 AM

Hi Everyone! I've been absent from the board for a little, but am back with a brand new project! This shawl is made of worsted weight yarn ( 4 strands held together) and a Q hook. It's only 14 rows, so you can make this very quickly. For your ease in crocheting this, the pattern also has a step-by-step slide show of how to make it.  I used the extended double stitch. There is also a link in the pattern that shows how to do this stitch. It's very similar to a double crochet.  If you like, you can make this shawl with a P hook and 3 strands of yarn, but you will have to work more rows. This is a great scrap busting project.

32  Bunny Face Trio in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: March 16, 2012 08:37:22 AM

These three projects are sure to delight your little ones! Start with the coaster to leave under a glass of carrot juice for the Easter Bunny. Make another to attach to the front of the grassy colored tote that works up double quick with two strands of yarn held together. A cute bunny face purse is the third project. By making two coasters with double strands of yarn and attaching them together with a long chain strap, you'll get a darling bag any little girl will be proud to wear.

33  Hot Cocoa Filet Curtain in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: December 27, 2011 10:40:04 AM

I've designed a Hot Coffee curtain and a Hot Tea Curtain. I present you with the Hot Cocoa Curtain! It's made the same way as the others, with a #7 steel hook and #10 thread.
It measures about 13x 17. I used the extended double crochet stitch to get a more square piece, but feel free to use the double or even the treble stitch.

35  Happy New Year! Bottle Topper Gift Tag---> Free download in Winter Holidays by Maria Merlino on: December 27, 2011 06:52:28 AM

For your bottles of cheer, here are 2 toppers to print. Use the thicker type paper or card stock, or regular copy paper which you can glue on some thin cardboard, like a recycled cereal box. If the neck of your bottle is wide, just cut the circle a little bigger.
You can find the free download here:

36  Kwanzaa Bottle Toppers--->Free printable with link in Winter Holidays by Maria Merlino on: December 25, 2011 08:17:45 PM

Here are 2 bottle toppers with Afrocentric designs for the Kwanzaa celebration. I used index card weight paper. If you don't have that, just print them on regular copy paper and use a glue stick to adhere them to the back of a cereal box or other thin cardboard.

39  Sparkling Stripes Christmas Stocking Pattern---Free pattern link! in Winter Holidays by Maria Merlino on: December 15, 2011 09:14:31 AM

This stocking is made with worsted yarn and an I hook. I used the sparkly Red Heart Yarn , but it will look just as nice in any color. I made the background in half dc and the stripes really pop because I used the treble stitch.

40  8 Printable Textile Themed Gift Tags---Free! in Winter Holidays by Maria Merlino on: December 15, 2011 09:05:12 AM

Sample Only

I put 4 to a page so they are nice and big. There is a Christmas Hanky, kitties with yarn balls, yarn dolls, Old-fashioned sewing machine, yarn skeins and a couple of others that you will enjoy! Print them on a heavier weight paper, like the the thickness of an index card, to make them sturdy, but they will print just fine on regular copy paper.
