1  Giant Butterfly Stole or Shawl in filet includes free pattern! in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: July 30, 2015 03:43:06 AM

Here is a big beautiful butterfly to show off! I used normal worsted weight yarn, the filet stitch and an I/6mm hook. You work the chart vertically for ease of construction. It goes fast and you can probably make it in a weekend

And here it is full length

5  Kanji Dream Symbol Afghan in the row count method in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by Maria Merlino on: January 31, 2015 04:44:14 PM

Work this one sideways.  Instead of a chart, row by row counts are given. This can be an easier way to approach a chart as the counting has already been done for you! H/5.00 hook and Super Saver yarn by Red Heart in your choice of colors. I used white and turquoise.

6  Pineapple Butterfly in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: January 31, 2015 12:48:59 PM

I used red thread and a #7 steel hook. It didn't take long at all. The antennae are attached to the head, so no flopping around and it can be sewed onto a t-shirt.

9  Kanji Love Afghan in the row count method with link in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by Maria Merlino on: January 18, 2015 04:46:57 PM

Made with normal worsted weight yarn and an H/5.00mm hook. Can be made in other high contrasting colors.

This afghan is suitable for a Valentine or Bridal gift and has the kanji symbol for love crocheted in the tapestry style but instead of using a chart, the row counts are provided. This style of working line-by-line instead of counting boxes on a graph can be an easier way of approaching the project. Afghan is worked from the bottom up.

Example: white10, red8, white1, red10. Ch1, turn

This means you sc 9 full white stitches, on the 10th white stitch, complete it by pulling red through the last 2 loops to complete. You are now ready to work the red stitches. Sc 7 full red stitches, on the 8th red stitch, complete it pulling white through the last 2 loops to complete, sc 1 white stitch complete it by pulling red through the last 2 loops, work 10 full red stitches, ch1, turn. You will have 10 white, 8 red, 1 white, and10 red stitches.

10  One Giant Chevron Shawl in Crochet: Completed Projects by Maria Merlino on: January 03, 2015 05:13:39 PM

This shawl won't fall off your shoulders! I used Red Heart Collage, three 3 ounce skeins but I found out that this yarn has been discontinued. Any worsted weight yarn will do, though. I used a J/6,00mm hook and it took about 3 evenings to make.
