21  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Rustic ( kinda) HOME sign. on: April 02, 2011 07:20:24 AM
I was inspired by craftyAmanda's distressed EAT sign (http://www.craftsbyamanda.com/2010/11/distressed-eat-sign.html) to make a sign of my own. well kinda. My Parents had just finished building there new home and had a house warming party last sat. so I thought a handmade home sign would be a nice gift. Mine didn't turn out nearly as nice as craftyamanda's but I am happy with it and my parents loved it so that is all that matters.

on with the pictures
This is the board I started with. I actually stole it for the scrap pile from my dads house so it is the actual material used in the new house Smiley

in progress

finished product. I didn't have a Palmsander at the time so I hand sanded itm, I have since went out and bought a Palmsander lol. I also had to wing the letters cuz I don't have a Silhouette machine or a stencil.

So once again thanks craftyamanda you are a great inspiration! Smiley

24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: My very first couch cover on: September 29, 2010 07:13:35 PM
Well I don't know what the conversion from yards to meters is but I used 5 meters of fabric for the front of the cushions and the parts you see of the frame the backs of the cushions and the frame I used a sheet that matched the fabric. With everything the fabric and sheet and zippers it cost me $40.00 (canadian) to make.

Thanks so much for the compliments I am very pleased with myself..there we moments of fustration but all in all it was pretty easy!

So about three years ago we were given a white couch for DH brother.....we have a now three year old son! So needless to say the white couch isn't so white after countless juice spills a war with markers and the dreaded paint incident.

I got a sewing machine for my birthday in March and after a few small project decided the couch needed a facelift. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out especially considering I have never done anything this big before. Oh and all on my own I didn't use a pattern or anything just winged it!

On with the pictures

27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: My July Wedding ( Dial up beware!) on: August 03, 2010 02:02:08 PM
I love it all!  Congrats Smiley  Your coffee filter roses turned out great!!  I really like the lanterns and hairpiece too.  I thought about making a card box like yours, but was concerned it wouldn't hold enough... did you find that you could fit all the cards in it?

I used 8x10 frames and it held tons we had about 70 guest and about 60 cards and it still had tons of room none of the cards got bent or folded.
28  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / My July Wedding ( Dial up beware!) on: August 02, 2010 07:08:21 PM
So My Husband and I got married on July 10, 2010. So I am getting around to posting the things that I did. After many months of ideas for craftster I thought I would share the wealth lol.

So I didn't want to wear a veil we were getting married outside in a park and my dress has a lot of detail on it, So I made my hair piece

I also made the flowers for me and my bridesmaids, Coffee filter roses, I thought they turned out pretty good

I made the centerpieces for the tables, there is also chalk board table numbers which I didn't get a picture of and battery powered lanterns that me and my friends made

I also made the backdrop with the help of a friend and Husband ( not a very good pic of it trust me it looked better in real life

I also made the guest book and card box, Ring pillow, and flower girl Pomander.( I don't have a finished photo of the Cardbow, I made a lid for it with a sparkely white fabric)

For the ceremony we had guest throw birdseed instead of rice since we gotmarried in a park. My husband found these cute little packets at  Walmart so we filled them with birdseed

We also made heart shaped pie pops as favors all though I didn't get a picture of them Sad

C&C Welcome.
We had a blast and just for fun here is a Photo of us on the wedding day!

My Uncles 1950 Chevy ( We were using as the bridal party car) broke down after the ceremony thankfully there was a mishap with the time for the caterer and stuff so we had a few hours to kill before the reception started everything got fixed in time and we made it to the reception!

What a great Idea! We have a ultrasound picture of my son sucking his thumb but he must have kicked the habit in the womb because I have never seen him suck his thumb since he was born and he is now almost three! Great Job!
