1  Simple hobo bag from a skirt!! My first ever in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by stevesdiybride on: May 30, 2012 06:50:10 PM
Hi all!
So this is the first bag I have ever made! I was pretty excited but sceptical that it would turn out properly, So i didn't take before pictures.
also I have a horrible camera that hates me so the pics aren't that great.
on with the pics

So what I started with was a skirt that was pretty similar to this one but was a light green with beaded flowers

This is how the bag turned out. Since my camera hates me and its night time the color is a little washed out. It is a lot more green in person

Closer to the actual color

Close up of the detailing

I don't have a picture of the lining but it is the same color as the outside only sans beading since I used the underlining of the skirt

So it isn't perfect but alteast I know what to do and what not to do next time. I figure it will make a good beach bag at least!!

C&C Welcome!!

2  Hayden's new big boy Room (pic obese) in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by stevesdiybride on: August 10, 2011 04:05:51 PM
My son is turning four in Nov ( Nov 23) and is starting school in Sept so DH and I decided to give him a big boy room. Silly me I forgot to take a before pic and can't seem to find one from when we moved in three years ago, but it was dark blue (bottom half) and dark red ( upper half) with a Disney cars border. I wanted to go bright colors this time but still be able to use his curtain and bedding from the cars theme. so on with the pics!

3  Newfoundland Tea Room in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by stevesdiybride on: April 27, 2011 07:19:55 AM
I made this distressed sign for my MIL for her tea room in Newfoundland. She lives in Ontario and goes to her home town of bonavista, Newfoundland every summer to open her tea room till fall.. So i thought it would be nice if she had something to reminder of it all year long.

Photos were taken with my cell phone since I cant find the cable for my camera. so not the best quality

I wanted it to resemble the sign she has hanging outside the building as much as possible but with my own twist on it

Flavoured blend Teas

Newfoundland Specialties

Before distressing and borders

6  Rustic ( kinda) HOME sign. in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by stevesdiybride on: April 02, 2011 07:20:24 AM
I was inspired by craftyAmanda's distressed EAT sign (http://www.craftsbyamanda.com/2010/11/distressed-eat-sign.html) to make a sign of my own. well kinda. My Parents had just finished building there new home and had a house warming party last sat. so I thought a handmade home sign would be a nice gift. Mine didn't turn out nearly as nice as craftyamanda's but I am happy with it and my parents loved it so that is all that matters.

on with the pictures
This is the board I started with. I actually stole it for the scrap pile from my dads house so it is the actual material used in the new house Smiley

in progress

finished product. I didn't have a Palmsander at the time so I hand sanded itm, I have since went out and bought a Palmsander lol. I also had to wing the letters cuz I don't have a Silhouette machine or a stencil.

So once again thanks craftyamanda you are a great inspiration! Smiley

8  My very first couch cover in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by stevesdiybride on: September 29, 2010 07:54:52 AM
So about three years ago we were given a white couch for DH brother.....we have a now three year old son! So needless to say the white couch isn't so white after countless juice spills a war with markers and the dreaded paint incident.

I got a sewing machine for my birthday in March and after a few small project decided the couch needed a facelift. I am pretty happy with the way it turned out especially considering I have never done anything this big before. Oh and all on my own I didn't use a pattern or anything just winged it!

On with the pictures

and the lovable destructor of the couch...it seems to meet his approval

9  My July Wedding ( Dial up beware!) in Weddings and Bridal Showers by stevesdiybride on: August 02, 2010 07:08:21 PM
So My Husband and I got married on July 10, 2010. So I am getting around to posting the things that I did. After many months of ideas for craftster I thought I would share the wealth lol.

So I didn't want to wear a veil we were getting married outside in a park and my dress has a lot of detail on it, So I made my hair piece

I also made the flowers for me and my bridesmaids, Coffee filter roses, I thought they turned out pretty good

I made the centerpieces for the tables, there is also chalk board table numbers which I didn't get a picture of and battery powered lanterns that me and my friends made

I also made the backdrop with the help of a friend and Husband ( not a very good pic of it trust me it looked better in real life

I also made the guest book and card box, Ring pillow, and flower girl Pomander.( I don't have a finished photo of the Cardbow, I made a lid for it with a sparkely white fabric)

For the ceremony we had guest throw birdseed instead of rice since we gotmarried in a park. My husband found these cute little packets at  Walmart so we filled them with birdseed

We also made heart shaped pie pops as favors all though I didn't get a picture of them Sad

C&C Welcome.
We had a blast and just for fun here is a Photo of us on the wedding day!

My Uncles 1950 Chevy ( We were using as the bridal party car) broke down after the ceremony thankfully there was a mishap with the time for the caterer and stuff so we had a few hours to kill before the reception started everything got fixed in time and we made it to the reception!

10  Tea Cozy and Coaster Set/ Makeup Bag in Mother's Day by stevesdiybride on: May 06, 2010 11:13:26 AM
I made this for My future Mother-in-law for Mothers Day. I just got my sewing machine in March and haven't done alot of projects so its not the best or the straightest but i think she will like it. The Tea Cozy came out a bit smaller then I thought it would but I didn't have a tea pot to measure so I went with the pattern size. I pretty much winged the coastes with the extra bit of fabric I had left.

I have also made a makeup bag for my mom, I have never made one before but i think it turned out ok ( it was also my first time using a silk liner but I like it). My sister and I are going to fill it with some of my moms favorite makeup!

C&C welcome!
