111  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Haiku-inspired tree embroidery on: February 24, 2010 07:15:51 PM
Fantastic work!  Reminds me of another haiku about trees that I composed when I was younger, but now I can't remember what it was...

Oh, man!  Ned spelled ink all over my poems.  He's a real flat tire, I mean a cube, man.  He's putting us on the train to Squaresville, Mona!
113  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Star Wars Aurebesh Bookmart on: February 24, 2010 06:55:36 PM
Hey guys, this is my second project.

I made a bookmark for a friend who's a huge Star Wars fan, but I wanted to do something unique.  I got an Aurebesh font and scaled it down to fit the bookmark.  That was, by far, the toughest part about this particular project.  Although my friend is more of a Dark Side fan, the Galactic Empire logo was too tough for me to design, so I just added some Jedi logos and some light sabers.  I messed up on the spacing in a couple of places and goofed on one of the light saber hilts, but I just made all the hilts look different so it wouldn't matter as much.

In all, took me the bulk of 3 days from design to completion.  Hope you like it!

PS: bonus points for those of you who know what it says!

My first work!

What do you think?  I think it's tough to see that it's a necktie and I was considering putting a little pocket on the right with pens poking out.  I got my inspiration from the 8-bit tie from http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-apparel/hats-ties/9352/

Soooo rad!  Do you have a pattern for the typeface you used?  I think it'd look good on something I want to do, but I'm having trouble figuring out the letters "y" and "k."
