1  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 54 ENTRIES / AWESOME PENCIL BOX FOR A SUPER STAR TEACHER! on: September 03, 2010 02:54:55 AM

86 pencils, a little glue, and lots and lots of patience later.... this came to be:

i used E6000 glue for the top, and loved how it came out (but I was getting a headache from the fumes) so i decided to switch to hot glue - which i did and didn't like.  liked it because well, its super secure, didn't smell bad and bonded quickly... and hated it, cause well - you can see the glue.  but over all i think its adorable.
the white flower is actually an eraser, and the feet are also erasers.

i loved the shimmer the pencils had!  so pretty and bright!  to personalize this for my friend, I took some scrapbooking letters and painted them white.  The DOT after the MRS was a little piece of eraser I cut off with an exacto knife (very scary tool).  My husband helped me cut down two pencils to put under the top, so the top would fit snuggly when closed.  Once everything was done, I sealed the letters and erasers with modge podge so the erasers would stay in tact!

Funny thing, I completely forgot to take pics at home... these were taken on the hood of the car!  luckily my mom was still in the parking lot or else I would have no picture to show!

Hope you like, and thanks for the challenge.  I had a lot of fun putting this little box together.  My friend (she's a 3rd grade teacher) will be using it store her "good job" "good student" stickers for her kids.
2  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Mothers Day Card on: May 05, 2010 01:06:04 AM
Hi everyone. Just finished my Momma's mother's day card (from the grandson).  My mom loves crazy colors, and i have to admit the mix of colors at first was a challenge, but i really love it.   i'm thinking of including an empty frame that says "frame card here", so once mothers day is over and its off her desk, it can go on her wall...  hope you all like it and thanks for letting me share!

3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / ok.. its time. on: March 23, 2010 02:13:21 AM
Hi everyone!  My name is Marisol and I am very new to Craftster.  I have been checking out the website for about a month, and OMG just found out about swapping!!!  (you mean i can actually make a craft for someone that loves crafts and i can get a wonderful surprise in the mail too? - thats soooo awesome!)

so - since I have only posted about 5/6 times, I figure I better get the ball rolling if I ever wanna qualify for a swap!

to tell you about myself, I am a first time mom of an adorable 14 month old boy, step mom to a beautiful 5 1/2 yr old spunky little girl, i am going into my second year of marriage and crafting is a passion of mine!

some of the things that i enjoy working with are: EVERYTHING!  I am ridiculously in love with all craft.  I love party planning and decor, so went DIY CRAZY for my wedding, baby shower and my step daughters spongebob themed 5th birthday.  (when i get the nerve I will post pics)

so anyways.. ive probably already written way to much... everyone on here seems to have great feedback and a wonderful attitude - i look forward to getting to know some of you.

P.S.  I also am very new to the Los Angeles area (relocated here from San Diego after the wedding) and would love to meet some local crafters!!!

Take Care!
