1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Army shirt + muumuu = My favorite new purse on: February 15, 2010 03:30:15 PM
I love making bags and purses and have been thinking more about raiding the back of my wardrobe for fabric. This has totally inspired me - thanks!!! jen x
2  COOKING / Dessert / Re: valentines day treats on: February 15, 2010 07:04:55 AM
If they were made with love, then that's all that matters! Cupcakes are sooooooo sweet and I love the pearly icing. I made hubs a hanging heart for Valentines http://bit.ly/ccBOCI . Have to admit it was a bit of a rush job, but it still turned out OK (I think!). I like how you recycled the plastic container for the truffle - cute idea. Jen x
3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Gears and Lace on: February 13, 2010 12:41:59 PM
Great skirt - mix of pattern and trim makes it really cool (and nice stretchy waistband would make it perfect for wearing out to dinner!!!). Jen x

The black buttons on the white are so bold, and the funnel neck collar very cool. I can imagine this pattern in lots of different fabrics, but the white would be the most striking - gorgeous!

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Lacing an Embroidery--Tutorial on: February 12, 2010 09:23:09 AM
Yay! - I only learnt to do this as the first books I worked on as a craft editor were cross stitch books. I've always stretched my own work - cheap and easy and so cool when you stand back and know you created the whole look yourself.

But do keep an eye out for unusual/vintage/quirky mounts and frames in charity shops, junk shops, in sales etc. They can really make a piece of needlework look extra special - just take of the back, remove the glass (dispose of it carefully though!), and pop in your newly laced project like a picture. If you don't like the colour paint it, or even cover it in fabric.  Try making a 'mount' from fabric. Experiment - finishing the embroidery itself is just the first step towards creating a final masterpiece!
