25  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Pattern Help!!! on: December 07, 2005 04:13:33 PM

Okay, so I'm working on a baby blanket for my best-friend's baby...and I've finished the first row...(look at the pretty shells) and I start on the second row and the pattern instructions are completely confounding to me.

They simply don't make sense...

Here is what the pattern says exactly:

ROW 2: With CA (white yarn), ch 5, *skip next sp, sc in next sp, ch 2, skip next sp, dc in next sc**, ch 2; rep from * across, end at ** and chate to CB (yellow yarn) in last dc; turn.

Okay, I interpret that to mean I chain 5 and insert my hook in the space marked below with a black arrow...or should I go to the red arrow...if I start at the black arrow...then where do i go after that?

Someone help!

28  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Insect or Bug Themed Swap? on: November 10, 2005 06:35:38 PM

29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sort of like Marble Picture Magnets on: March 17, 2005 11:45:23 AM
Inspired by this forum and the marble magnets...I went to JoAnn's to buy some flat marbles.

Only, the didn't have any at all. GRRR!

I did however find these neat little self-adhesive acrylic bubbles. They were in the scrapbooking isle and I guess are used for decorations in scrapbooks. The package had two sizes...medium and large. I snatched them up and went home.

They were very easy to use. I just pressed the clear bubble over my picture, cute the excess paper off and glued felt on the back. Finally, I used my hot glue gun (I LOVE I LOVE I LOVE) to glue the magnets on.

Ta-Da...a perfect V-day gift for my Irish-American boyfriend. He's way into Celtic stuff...and so I thought these would make a nice addition.

Sorry they are so blurry.

The other advantage to these little bubbles is that they are very light weight. So...the magnets don't have to be mega-strong.
30  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Mosaic Martini Table on: March 17, 2005 11:36:47 AM
Well...here's my first post!

I started working on this mosaic a couple of years ago...but have finally finished it. I used one of those cheap, particle board tables and broken mirror. I bought my tiles off of ebay. Then painted the legs with a random stripey pattern. I used black grout as well.  I'm SO happy with it. I plan on using it for a bar when I have friends over for drinkies. I could also detach the legs and hang the table top up on the wall as a piece of art.

Anyway, the tables are so affordable...I encourage anyone to give them a try!

Sorry my pictures are blurry.
