A couple of days ago my mama presented me with some shades inspiringly yellow strechy fabric that she'd scooped up for no pence (go mumsie!) so I bust out the xacto knife & made a stencil, found some black stretchy for the wasitband and set work on batman skirt Smiley Simple but I love it!

Na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-PICTURES!

I added a little bow on the back Smiley

Ahaha crappy pub bathroom shot Wink (after wearing it to see Goldie Lookin Chain, wicked fun gig!)

If I have enough of the yellow left, I going to make Batman leggings too Smiley

Because who doesn't love a bit of skully print?   Grin

Introducing..... *drumroll*..My first dress!

leopard print and skulls <3 hehe

I downloaded the Maryy pattern from burdastyle and after my boyfriend printing it out at work for me (and getting much less embarrassed than when I had him suprise printing bloomers the day before hehe) I got to the cutting, jigsaw-ing by numbers, sticking and sewing!
I didn't want to do the straps so I was originally just going to leave it as strapless and it was definately tight enough not to risk some unexpected flashing as I had alrady had to add a bit of extra fabric down the side to get it anywhere near done up over my bazoomas, but I've seen halterkneck hoodie tops and dresses before and  they look wicked so I thought ''yeah!...BUT...I'll make it detacheable so I can have it both ways! yey!'' So instead of sewing on the straps, out came the poppers Smiley A few buttons and bows later and I went and grabbed a belt to cinch in a bit cos it came out quite poofy at the front where its gathered and skipped around singing ''tadaa I maded a dress! Cheesy''

I could look happier about it here though lol

All in all I like it, although one of the poppers keeps going ''POP'' everytime I get a hug and it's still pretty tight, but hey ho, it's a dress! Cheesy

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / tshirt to yoga pants waistband confusion! New to this sewing malarkey ;) on: May 24, 2010 01:47:46 AM
Hey all Smiley

Up bright and breezy this morning (5am to be exact, all in the name of LOST finale!!)  lots of cups of tea later and i'm making the most of my morning (i work shifts never starting before 12.30 so this is a rarity!) carrying on with my first project aaand....I'm hoping one of you lovely sewers can help this newbie! I got my first sewing machine on saturday woo and so far with the stuffed mini cushion and half a pair of yoga pants ive made,i'm loving it, but stuck on the waistband for the pants!

I'm following all the t shirt to pants recon tutorials i can find and have succsesfully got the legs together, quite neatly too! *proud* hehe but i just dont get how to attatch the remaining material to make the waistband....ive marked where it needs to be attatched, bigger at the back than the front, all pinned whilst i was wearing them to check..but...but...now i'm baffled! do i sew them to the legs around the top in the same way i'd sew a seam? or do i need to fold it over the top of the legs? am i supposed to have interfacing?

please help my confuzzled looking face turn form this  Huh into this  Grin

thanks!!!
