CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Pricing panic! Please help.

I think pricing is always the problem. You can't really get paid hourly for art because it simply gets too costly I have found. I think it depends on your audience but I would say that $40-$60 is good. Under $40 isn't repectful of how much time you put in an how adorable it is and over $60 is turning into a lot of money. That being said if it is going to someone who will respect and appreciate your work as an artisan than you can charge more. Sorry to get wordy but it isn't straightforward really. By the way it is wonderful and you are very talented.

OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: Your honest opinion about wedding decor

I have to add my thoughts too.... I didn't "do" my own wedding....I hired a florist but we did a totally eclectic wedding and I wouldn't change a thing. Nothing "matched" and there was no theme....I wanted it to look like I went outside to my garden right before the wedding and grabbed and cut flowers for the wedding....so nothing fussy or formal (we actually included apples and asapragus in the arrangements) and nothing was matched from the linens to the napkins to the place settings.....it was all mismatched old china and old embroidered linens and it was all perfect. Please....do what will make you happy because isn't that really the way you want to begin the rest of your life with your significant other? This is above all else YOUR day to share with loved ones....

MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Shrines... Help please?

what a wonderful find! I would start with some sketches..what kind of shrine/altar you want to create...if you want it dark/light....have you already picked out the things you want it to hold? Are you going to let the space dictate what you put in it? I would also think about the placement in your home..you could wall mount it or put it on a shelf...you may want to attach hardware before you start the decorating... such fun!

SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Serger help? Please!!

I am actually having a serger nightmare today too and need some help....I am usually great about setting the tension but I can't manage this time. The front side of the fabric looks great but the backside one of the stitches is just making a purposeless loop. And I have fixed the tension on everything trying to fix it and nothing is working and I am so frustrated..... Anyone? ANYONE!!!!
