So, I was married, now I'm not, yet the dress remains. It's been a closet for years and is slightly stained, and I've been trying to sell it on craigslist but no one is interested. I've seen a few tutorials, but what I was thinking was, how hard would it be to make it a tea length dress?

The dress has a train, and embroidery all the way around it. Would it be feasible to dye it another color and shorten it, so I could at least wear it to parties or something? I can't bring myself to just give it to good will, I love it too much. Yet I feel bad having my old wedding dress just hanging in the closet now that I live with my new boyfriend. (And before there's sympathy, it was a very easy, mutual parting of ways, we just got married too young and grew apart)

Does anyone have any ideas or could maybe point me to a tutorial? I've been looking, but haven't found one so far.
