1  Keyhole Pinup in Needlework: Completed Projects by missbillie on: December 30, 2007 08:54:10 AM
Hi All,

It's been a while since I've posted - been busy, as we all are...  Anyways, I'm on a short vacation from work for the holidays, and the first thing I did was stitch.  Here's what I came up with:  (she's wrinkly b/c I haven't ironed yet).

She's hand-stitched, and I drew her myself, but took inspiration from a book of pinups that my husband has at our shop.  It's sort of from those pulp mags from the 40's and 50's.The keyhole is stenciled and brushed on with some acrylic paint.  Here's a closeup of her face:

Like I said, it's slightly unfinished, but I wanted to post anyways.  I ended up giving it to a friend of ours for Christmas, and he's pretty happy with it.  It took me about 6 hours to complete, from drawing to painting.

What do you think?

2  Spider Tattoo Embroidery in Needlework: Completed Projects by missbillie on: February 27, 2007 09:41:46 AM
I haven't posted in a while so... Wink

My finace (4 more weeks - we'll be at Viva getting married) is a tattoo artist, and when he gets bored at work, he draws and frames me little pictures of traditional original flash.  This is one of my favorites, and I decided to stitch it up for his studio if he promises to put it on my skin soon.

Bear with me, I am a terrible photographer...

It is un-ironed at this point...

Here it is framed at my office -

Hope you all like it!

3  Newly Upholstered Hot Rod Seats! in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by missbillie on: September 09, 2006 01:48:35 PM
Hi Guys,

I didn't know where to put this, but wanted to show everyone...

My boyfriend builds hot rods, and I've begun helping with the latest by doing the upholstery and interior.  Here's the new front seat so far...

First, image of the old and busted seat before:

...Not sure if you can see how stained and torn it is:

Now here's the new terribly pimped-out seat.  Usually, we go for understated black, but we want this car to be a rockabilly creeper led sled:

and another:

Finally, here's the lucky recipient in his garage, mid chop and all dusty from body work:

It's going to be SICK!

thanks for looking!

4  Virgin Wallhanging in Needlework: Completed Projects by missbillie on: August 31, 2006 07:20:32 PM
Hi Everyone,

I've been off for a while (almost a year).  I lost my job and computer access, because of all that accidentally flaked on a swap..... but you don't need to hear my sob story.  I'm glad to be back, and up and crafting!

Here's one of the things I've worked on - It's about a foot and a half tall, and about 3/4 foot wide:

and an up-close shot (kind of fuzzy):

Well, thanks for looking.  It's good to be back and getting back on track!

5  Re: Psychobilly/Punk Rock Swap GALLERY in The Swap Gallery by missbillie on: August 31, 2005 02:38:15 PM
Oh, I'm one lucky ghoul (har har).

Vanessa Cyanide sent me the BEST BEST BEST stuff.  I am sooooo totally excited.  I gotta tell you, I was opening my package, and my boyfriend was freaking out.  He was like "she just sent you this stuff?"  I had to remind him of the hard work I had put into the items I sent her, but it was kind of funny -- like free money, or something.

Anyway, I'll cut to the chase:

I got a cool pumpkin bag that reminds me of all my pumpkin tattoos

an absolutely INCREDIBLE coffin purse with cool lace painted overlay

inside view of the leopard lining

some cool booty (frankenstein and bride of barrettes, skull and morbid beads, an freakin' awesome coffin butterfly barrette that I refuse to take out of my hair, and a frankenstein bandanna)

Close up of the butterfly barette

and two KILLER CD's of psychobilly "music to wreck any party"  haha.  We listened to them and are amazed by your dj'ing skills on 10 beers at 2 am!   Cheesy

Thanks Vanessa, you made this swap so great!  I hope you like the things I sent you!

All right, here's my latest.  It's a week old, so kind of crusty and shiny, but y'all get the idea...

I am under the impression that everyone should have a T.C.B. (Elvis's quote, "Takin' Care of Business").

check it!

7  Poor little broke-down deer - Help me clean it up! in Needlework: Completed Projects by missbillie on: July 20, 2005 10:40:51 AM
Hi Everyone,

My friends know that I am an embroidery addict!  They found this piece at a garage sale that they gave me, and I love it!  Check out the deer...

It's really dirty - any ideas on how to clean it?  Dryclean?  Hand wash?

Here's a closeup.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Everyone.

Here's my first proper post!

These are some embroidery designs I drew and stitched up... I'm big on opposites, so I decided to do the good old boys vs. girls theme.

They are supposed to be framed wall hangings, but I haven't gotten that far yet.   Wink

the first

the second

Hope you all like them!  thanks for lookin'
