1  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / help me!! on: January 18, 2014 01:41:27 PM
this is a total long shot....... but..... i'm trying to find a company i've seen on the internet at some point but can't for the life of me find it now, they make elaborate embroidered clothes, i have a mental image of a cream dress i saw on there covered in vintage lace and beads, think the contents of an amazing craft room all thrown on to one amazing item of clothing, think they did some like tweedy embroidered coats too, any ideas anyone?? i'd be eternally grateful xx
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / sweetie bouquet for my sweetie!! on: February 08, 2011 01:37:12 PM
just a quickie, was struggling for things to buy for the boyf for valentines day, i'd seen some chocolate bouquets online, but being incredibly poor, and also thinking i could make a nicer one i decided to have a crack at it myself,
so i bought some bits and bobs, and painted a bajillion skewers red, and got to work with the hot glue gun,
pretty chuffed with how it's turned out, it's all chocolates except the  big pink sparkly hearts, so he should yum it up,

thanks for looking, let me know what you think  Smiley

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / advent calendar epic project!! a work in progress new pictures on: September 19, 2010 09:26:00 AM
hiya, this is a totally only just started project, i've started early as i figure it's going to take me a while, my idea started out as being just a simple but lovely advent calendar for my niece who is coming up for two in january, i wanted to make little pockets but it's hard to find suitable small toys for a tot for each pocket and her daddy, my brother, is a chef and very keen on healthy eating and doesn't like her to have too many sweets, so i didn't want to make it with treats.
sooooo... currently my plan is to make a mahoooooosive one with pockets, and a tree sewn on somehow, with little ornaments to hang on the tree every day.
this is where my cunning plan hit its first snag,  though i've already done my pattern for the basic calendar, i thought it would be best to work on the ornaments first to make sure they will fit in the pockets, i tried a myriad of different ways to make my ornaments, fimo, embroidery, fabric painting, fabric pens, card and lots of glue,  a mixture of everything, and nothing was producing anything i was even slightly impressed with, Cry but hurrah, this weekend i think i've had a breakthrough, image transfer paper may just be my saviour!!  Smiley
so on with the
first my basic pencil sketches to work out my sizing and designs followed by hand drawn and painted initial designs, i used watercolours with sparkle as i want it to be quite pastelish to go with their decor:

next i've transferred them onto image transfer paper, and ironed them onto white felt, then cut them out as little circles ready to be embellished with sparkles and suchlike got 18 done so far but not sure if they're all staying:

backs to look kind of like baubles!!

some of the fronts, decorated with beads, more to follow

obviously ideas and comments are welcome, thanks for looking!! Cheesy
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / new every day bag to go with everything on: August 09, 2010 01:12:42 PM
ok so i was sick of looking for a new bag, i like a little satchel type but mine was too small  and the ones i liked had straps that were too short, so in a flash of stash inspiration i discovered a big hunk of a nice grey suit type fabric i bought ages ago for the bargain sum of 2.50 the pictures don't do it justice at all the stripe is a slightly greyish pinky colour, so i concocted a quick pattern and made this, it has a massively long strap so i can wear it across my body, for hands free shopping and i lined it with some jazzy cotton stripe i also had in my stash pile, i added a little inside pocket and it fastens with a magnet inside and velcro on the flap, so a total bargain bag too as i had everything in the house already, i also stiffened it up a little with a bit of interfacing but i wanted it to stay quite slouchy!! it doesn't look like it but the stripes do match up perfectly on the front!!

the fabric had the most pretty selvedge so i whipped it off and used it to make some swift rosettes which i have made like little broaches so i can take them off if i get bored of them, the little tab with the eyelet in is just for something to fiddle with and too add a bit of extra interest really. it fits tons of stuff in it as i squared the bottom off, i actually fitted in my huge purse, water bottle, towel and i pod in it the other day to go to the gym!! yay!!

all in all i'm pretty thrilled with it, though on reflection using it this weekend i could have made the strap a little wider as it gets a little uncomfortable if it has too much in it, it doesn't photograph well, so i might change them when i get a chance to take some in decent light!! comments welcome, thanks for looking!!
6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 48 ENTRIES / screeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaam!! on: March 04, 2010 01:51:36 PM
well here goes, i almost didn't post this as having seen some of the challenge entries i felt mine was a poor effort!!
anyways, got to lose my challenge cherry sometime, plus this took me ages, so here goes.......
my thinking behind this came from a couple of things, firstly i was thinking mini work of art, which led me to think about a reproduction of some famous art image, but then flicking through the previous chalenge entries i saw original youths mini mona lisa, http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=111999.0 so had to have a bit of a rethink, so being obsessed with all things beady and learning different techniques i have recently started to learn to do loom bead weaving, i came up with a mini beaded scream, inspired by the scream by edvard munch, which has long time been a favourite of mine and is also kind of how working this small makes me feel!! raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!
it's kind of imperfect because i used any old random beads left over from other projects and some are not the perfect size, and i also failed to make a pattern but just went for it because that's just how i roll lol!! Grin

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / biker chick chic bag!! on: February 20, 2010 07:53:16 AM
this is my first picture post so please be kind, just finished my cute biker girrrrrrrrl bag made with an alexander henry fabric, added some snappers at the sides so it can be bigger if i want to use it as an overnight bag and it fastens with a magnet to keep pilfering fingers from wriggling their way in, i lined it with a cute giant polka dot fabric and made a little zippy pocket for the niff naff that cobbles around the bottom of my bag, also had a little scrap left over with a girls face on from squaring up the bottom so i of course made a little covered button with it, who wouldn't want a disembodied face button?? no just me then?? lol  Grin
