cherry wood tags, stickers, gemstones

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Freeform Crochet Haunted House and a couple other things on: September 23, 2014 10:17:39 AM
I made this haunted house for the Mini 13 Days of Halloween swap. I did not use a pattern but I knew what I wanted and just winged it on the dimensions. I used felt for the ghosts and windows, and reinforced those with black fabric paint which gives it a really cool spooky look.

I also made some other things:

a mummy:

witch dishcloth

armwarmers

ewok scoodie

the cauldron is crochet and the potions and goblets go in or around it. I may put some polyfill in there to look like smoke coming out.

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / The Ugliest Little Afghan in Texas on: August 30, 2014 02:07:09 PM
I purchased a box of vintage yarn on ebay last year. In it were these whole skeins of virgin wool from the 70s and some ugly stinky yarn. I was determined to put it all to good use so I set out to make an afghan. It was a complete pain in the butt. No matter how much febreeze I spray it smells odd, the yarn was all different weights, and the wool kept breaking every few stitches. I don't know what I am going to do with this thing but here it is:

4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / 13 days of Halloween? on: July 05, 2014 06:42:53 AM
I know the mini 13 days of Halloween swap is already in progress, but I was wondering if anyone was going to do the regular 13 days of Halloween swap this year? I am not able to organize but I would love to be a part of it.
5  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Cloth Toilet Paper on: February 26, 2014 01:28:36 PM
A.K.A.: Family cloth, toilet cloth, etc.

I have recently started using cloth toilet paper (for #1 for now) because it is cheaper and more environmentally friendly. I had some cut up tshirts but I decided to upgrade to flannel. The tshirts survive as cloth kleenex. I made a bunch of these today (I didn't count how many). The ones on top are single sheets, and the ones on the bottom are stacks of the same color fabric. They are super soft and work really great!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Patchwork Bag for summer on: February 21, 2014 02:26:11 PM
I wanted something that will carry the necessities. I had this patchwork panel that wanted to be a bag, so I whipped up this bag real quick today. It has two pockets on the inside and a drawstring closure.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Modesty Panels! on: February 18, 2014 12:23:56 PM
I have a lot of denim skirts I wear during the winter (and to various church functions that require me to wear skirts. Which is all of them.) I can't stand them. They all had splits in the back that were waay too high for my taste, and I felt exposed. Since I couldn't say "The heck with it" and put on a nice pair of pants, I made some modesty panels (also called kick pleats) and "fixed" them.

I fixed five skirts in all, the one on the top is my favorite.

I used a tutorial that was originally on Pintrest. It led to This blog:

8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Another Hippie Swap? on: February 18, 2014 06:22:13 AM
Springtime is almost here and we Hippies can once again come out and play in the sunshine  Grin

Would anyone be up for another Hippie swap?
9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Spooky Needlework on: August 30, 2013 07:14:48 PM
I am getting the jump on my Halloween projects. I made these 4 cross stitch panels and these two hoops, the spider was inspired by someone else's post on here (cant find it right now), and I thought of the ghost one on my own. I burnt myself out on needlework for now so I am moving on to other projects for now.

Sampler 1

Sampler 2. I used the creepy hollow pattern by Sitcheree. I didn't use the whole thing, though. The phrase on top I found on google from an old 1800's sampler and I thought is was really neat.

10  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Craft Books Runed by Mold! on: July 29, 2013 04:57:00 PM
I had my crafting books in a canvas bag by the couch and I just noticed that my son had poured some liquid on the bag a while ago. The bottom of the bag was mouldy and a fe of my vintage cross stitch magazines were completely ruined. My copy of the stitch and bitch book (the first one that I learned to knit on way back when it first came out) is almost unreadable and I am thinking I am going to have to toss it, as it smells funny and the colors have bled into each other and a LOT of the pages are stuck together. A couple of my other books are only stuck together on the bottom, so I am going to try to loosed them up and salvage them. I was thinking maybe I could steam the pages open.... Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Is there any way I can save my pattern books?
