1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Sesame Street Emboirdery on: June 23, 2016 02:47:44 PM
I bought these vintage Sesame Street embroidery kits at Goodwill. They are in amazing shape despite being from 1977. I Just finished the last one today and I will be putting them up in my son's room at our new apartment when we move next month.

The whole shebang:

2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Stuffed French Toast on: April 16, 2016 09:50:08 AM
My mother in law gave me this recipe. I made it for my MOPS (mothers of pre-schoolers) group and it was a hit!

1 Cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter
2 teaspoons corn syrup
8 eggs
1 3/4 cups milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 loaf French Bread

Put butter in sauce pan and as it starts to melt, add corn syrup, then brown sugar. Cook on medium heat until all ingredients are well blended and the mixture begins to bubble. DO NOT bring to a rolling boil, because the caramel will harden into candy.

Pour mixture into "9x13" casserole pan.

Slice the bread into 3/4 inch thick pieces. Place a layer of bread on top of the caramel sauce, side by side without overlapping. Spread cream cheese on top of the bread. Top off each slice of bread with a second slice, like a sandwich.

Mix eggs, vanilla, and milk together in a bowl with a whisk and pour over the top of the bread, being sure to coat each piece.

The dish can be prepared the night before and stored in the refrigerator. In the morning, bake in a 350 degree oven for 40 minutes.

Serve warm with the caramel side up. Top with syrup, whipped cream, nuts, or fresh berries....or all four!

3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Psychedelic Raver Mermaid Tail Blanket on: April 12, 2016 12:38:46 PM
The pattern is Quick and Easy Mermaid Tail by Sheila Hunt. I made two half-tails and sewed them on to make a fuller tail. I used 7 skeins of Yarn Bee Whimsy Bulky in San Martine. It is super soft!

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Deliuxe Cheeseburger Needle Book IMG Heavy on: December 14, 2015 08:18:54 AM
I made one of these for the Be Awesome swap and had always wanted to make one for myself. It got stuck in a box when we moved and I finally finished it!. It is completely stitched by hand because I am a glutton for punishment apparently. My only major gripe is that I ran out of one color for the sesame seeds on top and had to use another color that is noticeably different.

The whole thing:

Lettuce and tomato:

Closeup of construction:

3 Bacon Slices

Other side of the bacon and the pickles on the cheese :

The other side of the cheese has mushrooms and one side of the beef has stitched on onions:

Bottom of the beef patty with ketchup, mayo, and mustard. Plus the bottom bun which has nothing special on it.

I still need to find a way to hold it closed but I am happy with it and it is a fun place to hold my needles!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Yellow Mermaid Tail Blanket on: December 13, 2015 10:32:51 AM
I bought this pattern a while ago and decided to use some vintage yarn I had to make a mermaid tail blanket. It smells like crayons for some reason, so I need to go buy some febreeeze but it is warm and comfortable. I am happy with how it turned out.

6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Stocking for my little boy on: December 10, 2015 09:27:13 PM
I got this started a year ago and finally finished it this week. I did not get it exactly like how it looked on the pattern but I am happy with it. It is completely hand sewn from a kit I got at Hobby Lobby.

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / 13 Days of Halloween 2015! on: June 10, 2015 12:35:20 PM

Hi, a few years ago I noticed there was a 13 days of Halloween swap. The idea was that you made/bought 13 items for day 13, 12 items for day 12, and so on. Edible items were acceptable as well. There was not enough time or interest for it last year but I wanted to go ahead and post now and see if anyone would want to do it this year. Signups would be late July or early August and sendouts would be the first week in October. That would give everyone two months to craft. We could make it US only if needed so everyone would get their packages on time. I would be available to organize if anyone wants to get this going this year.
