11  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: OAHPT aka One Awesome Harry Potter Thing ~Sendouts 3/20~ on: February 25, 2013 04:51:04 AM
We've had a entire sick household this week, but I did get some crafty time.  Now I've just got to start putting it all together.  Waiting on my new countertops to get here this morning, and once they are installed, it'll be a matter of cleaning and getting everything rearranged and that project will be done! Woo!

OoOoO, you're speedy!

I've just now got started good!

And, Happy Valentine's Day!   Smiley

Got some crafting done today in between loads of laundry, and then my clothes dryer died.  Of course, this has to happen just when we've shelled out money for a new countertop for the kitchen...and not a couple of weeks ago when we didn't have the kitchen torn to smithereens.

Heading to the craft store this weekend to gather supplies (you'd think I had enough in my stash, but noooo).

I haven't quite finalized the exact end product, but I have a pretty good idea.

Also, in the interest of full disclosure of projects, I took down all my kitchen cabinet doors yesterday and I'm cleaning all the hardware to repaint them, because I just flat out cannot afford all new hinges and pulls.

Don't tell Hermione, but I so could use a house-elf.

Ant Bee, I'm so with you right there, I sometimes get intimidated by making one larger awesome thing!  But your tiny things sure were much loved and appreciated, I promise you!

I'm still on the fence, too, we've just started to redo the kitchen, so I wanted to see how much time I'd have.

Definitely check out AVPM - you'll either love it or hate it!

Just browsing pinterest this evening, and I stumbled upon this, remembered your request, so here's a link.

The initial cutting is the post the day before!

The picture made me think at first this was A Very Potter Musical swap!

I never have this problem, I usually have to buy too big to accommodate my ghetto booty, and take up the waist.

I'd put them on inside out and (if you have someone) help you pin up the back seam until it is closer to what you want, measure and mark the curve, sew, and then topstitch/finish however the style of your pants requires.

Like I said, I've never had to do that, and hopefully someone with experience will be able to give you more specifics!

I *also* received from AugustBell today, and what a great package it was!

First up, group shot -

A fabulous Fred and George card!

With their set of sweaters (I have to say I'm in awe of everyone's skills in making these tiny sweaters, it's just amazing).

The Boy Who Lived ornament - it's too cute, I love how you layered the pictures and words.

Fawkes for my tree - there are no words for how much I love this guy - He's so adorable, the phoenix is my favorite magical creature.

Last, but not least, a box full of Hershey's mint chocolate -

Thank you so much, AugustBell, as always, it's so fun to swap with you!

There are some seriously adorable things going on here!  I really like the Harry peg ornament - it reminds me of clothespin solider ornaments my grandmother made, which get the best spot on the tree always!

So glad you liked everything, Ant Bee - my old camera card has officially died, and that was the one that had the pre-ship pictures on it.  The beaded bag is 'technically' a jewelry pouch.  When Snape gets the hat out of the cracker in the books is one of my favorite parts!
