11  My first attempt at needle felting in Felting: Completed Projects by scarlet_nights on: August 09, 2012 10:32:11 PM
so I know this is just kind of a blob and nothing real fancy but it was my first time trying needlefelting. I thought he turned out cute but my bf said he needed a g/f. I had already done a "shocked look" on his face that I had to incorporate it somehow. So when I made his "g/f" I needle felted her hand to his butt.
I call it unrequited love. He dosnt seem to excited about her advances dose he?

12  Autumn leaf hair pretty in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by scarlet_nights on: August 09, 2012 09:06:52 PM
I was going though some old pictures in my computer and found some projects I havent posted. I made this for a swap partner some time ago. She had one similar on her pinterest so I thought it would be fun to recreate it.
Basically just leaves, chain, and a sparkley. I was quite pleased with how it turned out.
Almost makes a sloppy "who cares" bun look nice.

13  Re: Embroidery Hoopla R8 - The Wordy Round (Signups CLOSED, Sendout Sept 3rd) in ACTIVE SWAPS WHERE SIGN-UP PERIOD HAS CLOSED by scarlet_nights on: July 24, 2012 09:59:17 PM
You gals are always welcome at my house if you want to come visit the Garfields! I'll trade lodging for hooplas!  I can't promise I will help you take one home though Wink

[img width=375 height=500]http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/medium/295224_24Jul12_garfield.jpg[

That one is at our Children's Museum. (It's one of my favorites.)

Okay, now I want a Garfield hoop.

ahhh its great I want! Would look great in my yard dont ya think lol. As for a garfield hoop you can put some of his quotes on your list and your partner can put it in a thought bubble with garfield under it. One of my favorites is "Pooky you give the best hugs" since I love that Garfield loved his teddy. I had a very beloved teddy bear that I slept with till i was 16 (yes 16 and Im not ashamed of it) that I lost when my house burned down a few years ago. I still miss my teddy.

16  Re: pet swap? in New Swap Theme Ideas by scarlet_nights on: July 14, 2012 10:02:16 PM
This could be fun. My dogs go through toys like nobodys business. They seem to think the squeaky must DIE!!

Here's my babies. Alathea called Laylay and Buttons. Buttons is a rescue. He's around 13 and the people who had him before wanted to kill him because they were bored with him! He is the sweetest boy and if you show him a ball he goes nuts and will outplay anyone.

17  Memo Boards in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by scarlet_nights on: July 13, 2012 07:06:57 PM
Here are a couple of memo boards I made for swaps.

I use a stretched artist canvas I get cheap at walmart for the base. First a double layer of batting then fabric of choice and a staple gun. Add ribbons and buttons to hold your notes and pictures.

And finish off the back with ribbon to hid the 50 million staples. I try and use the same ribbon as the front.

18  Mixed media steampunk in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by scarlet_nights on: July 13, 2012 06:56:07 PM
This is a piece I did for a steampunk swap.

I printed the image off on acrylic painting paper which gave it a great texture and glued it down to a simple canvas. I ended up acidently "distressing" the picture when I ran my finger over while it was still wet trying to get a bubble out but it works. I painted the canvas and the edges of the picture and then got out my random bits box and superglue! There is scrapbook paper, an old leather bracelet, a ragged piece of antique lace and some jewelry findings. I loved it when i was done and sooo didnt want to send it since I would never be able to make one for myself since I use unique and antique pieces. But my partner loved it so it was worth the little bit of heartach.

19  Gentleman Fizzgig in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by scarlet_nights on: July 13, 2012 06:39:27 PM
My good sirs and lovely ladies my I present Gentleman Fizzgig.

I made him for the steampunk swap. my partner had an intense love of Fizzgig and I thought it would be fun to refine him a bit. everything but his eyes are handmade by me, even his little top hat. His hat is made of fleece and a toilet paper tube. His walking cane is a dowel rod I cut down and shaped with my drimel.

His monocle is from an old ugly pair of earrings that I destroyed, and enjoyed doing it. And of course all refined gentlemen have to have a mustache. his is made of felt and so is his nose.

He is the second Fizzgig Ive made and I really enjoyed making him. Kind of wanted to keep him even though Ive never seen his movie.

20  Can you tell me how to get, how to get to Sesame Street in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by scarlet_nights on: July 03, 2012 05:07:21 PM
Ok now that Ive got that song stuck in everyones head  Grin

The bf and I were going on vacation and at the last minute, the evening before we left, I decided I wanted a new shirt. Anyone who knows me, or actually reads my ramblings knows that I love to make my clothes out of vintage sheets. So out comes my collection of vintage sheets.

I scored big at Goodwill a few weeks ago. Vintage top and bottom Sesame Street sheets from the 70's. Shocked I debated awhile weather or not i would look silly in a shirt covered in Muppets then said "Screw it I LOVE Muppets!"

Oscar the Grouch is my favorite SS character so I made sure he was on the front of the shirt right where everyone can see him.
I love this shirt pattern, 5 pieces and that it, quick, easy, and comfy. We went to Branson and it was over 100 for most of the time we were there so loose and breezy was required.

The back, just to show the different characters and to show there is no freaking Elmo! I dont like Elmo and think they might as we rename SS The Elmo show. I love this sheet though because it had so many classic characters on it, even Twiddle Bugs which I managed to get on the sleeves.

I did have a few issues though. I dont do interfacing, I feel it makes things to stiff, so I always double up things like yokes. While cutting out the yoke I ran out of sheet! what to do?! Pull out a sheet Im not overly fond of and make the inside. You can see the, what I consider ugly, flowered fabric here. While cutting the front yoke I wasnt paying attention and cut a big chunk out of it!! Argh, why is it when your in a hurry things go wroung? So drag the ugly sheet back out and patch.  It patched very well and you cant really see it at all, its right up by the shoulder and who looks at peoples shoulders anyway?

And since shirts dont look right just laying on the bed. We were at the Worlds Largest Toy Museume(which was AMAZING) and the bf made me stand still for a picture. I love Garfield!

This is now one of my favorite shirts and Ive had a TON of people comment on it, even the guy running the toy museum. Thanks for looking and reading my rambaling. C&C welcome.
