21  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / I finally made a ring with wire! on: March 16, 2006 03:15:27 AM

and I've vastly underestimated the work! *rub sore fingers* I was so afraid that pliers would mar the wire because I knew I would have use a death grip  Tongue , so I did most of the thing with my fingers.  And that long piece of thin wire kept trying to poke my face (don't worry, I wear my glasses when I craft  Cool )

Thanks for looking, and any feedback will be appreciated!

Thanks everyone for the feedback ^^

Zephyr: Mmm, sounds like I could try wire wrapping but seriously I need to find some tute on pendents...

maddiekins: Heheh, these beads remind me of those colorful cocktail drinks. And I love your avatar!

Finally I'm getting glass beads  Smiley Each of the colored beads in the bracelet is itself a gradient of two or more colors, and together they form a rainbow. Simply couldn't resist when I saw them in the bead store!

And I spotted this litte gem in the bunch, but still don't know what to do with it at this moment:

Thanks for looking. Comments or suggestions are always appreciated.

So pretty! I especially love your earrings, and the last pair is really cute.  I think your choice of the heart-shaped dangle and silver beads make yours different from all the 'little princess' ribbon stuff in the market (ugh, I don't usually like things that scream "Look I'm CUUUUUTE"...)

Good job!
25  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Lunar New Year ornament on: January 26, 2006 09:40:33 PM
The Lunar New Year is coming so I made this to hang on my door.  The character "fu" at the center means good fortune, and we have printed versions on the door (and on the calender) every year.

The red motifs at the corners are bats(!). In Chinese bat is also pronounced as "fu", so bat motifs are considered to bring good fortune as well. I copied the bat motif painted on some bowls, and tried to make the outline with wire (which is not successful because there are too many sharp angles in the motif).  Anyway, thought I'd show this funny draft I drew (top: copied from a rice bowl; bottom: cartoon bat)

Thanks for looking. C&C much appreciated.

Wow, these bangles rock!!
It seems to me that there's a framework made with thicker wire in the 1st one, but was the 2nd one solely made with thin wire? *amazed*

Good idea with the pony tail holder Smiley Does it snag in your hair Huh I like them both very much.

Thanks all for the kind words. Thankfully the ponytail holder doesn't cause much snagging problem (well, nothing more than store bought ones... Wink )
29  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / A flower brooch (evolved from the Genie bottle pattern) on: December 29, 2005 04:27:27 AM
I was determined to try moobaa's genie bottle earrings (http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=65456.0) on the last day of the winter holidays, but something got under my contact lenses the day before & my eyes were all red and sore the next day.  Since I couldn't look at bright light (in order to work on smaller beads), I have to postpone my plan Embarrassed . So here's the result of playing with the idea using some larger beads:
